Problem: Game Doesn't Load

Featured Replies

I can start the game and watch all of the scenes before getting a black screen with a loading bar at the bottom but from there nothing happens.

What are all those EPM scripts for? It's either them or you possibly have a corrupt save file (did you save the game while you were on duty?)

  • Author

The game doesn't even start long enough for me to move, it just freeze's at the loading screen. I do have emp scripts for the air brake on the bugatti mod. - Do you think removing those will help?

Yeah well they look like they are having problems. Remove each additional mod/script one by one until it works.

If they are all removed and it still isn't working I'd say you could have a corrupted save file.

So you haven't played the game before? Or you can't get to the menu to play?

Remove each additional mod/script one by one until it works.

If you can't even get the game to start, a guide for playing is going to be useless. Have you removed all third party modifications yet?

You should have already done this had you paid any attention to the troubleshooter.

Yes I have the game working now but the only thing I seem to be able to do is press p to switch from blur to sharp over and over. Don't really see any guide's to help me out on this one

  • Author

The only thing Alt+P is doing is effecting the graphics from blur to sharp over and over, I was stood at the same place as the video but no red beacon appeared. Sorry for being a pain in the Butt

Try pressing alt-F12 to force duty. If that doesn't work, then the mod isn't activating.

Try pressing tilde (`) in the left corner of your keyboard. If the console doesn't open, then the script loader isn't activating.

You didn't delete these did you?

Honestly, This happens to alot of people, and the funny thing is, I enjoy helping people like you out.

Go into your root directory: C:Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonGrand Theft Auto IVGTAIV

Find either xlive.dll or dsound.dll. If you have both delete one.

Also @ekalb - It's Ctrl+P to force duty. Alt+F11 forces a callout.

I believe Alt-F12 will open the tester menu to force duty/callouts/world events

I had the same problem and i guess you use a windows 64 bit version.

i had to install .net 4 full version. You probably have .net 4 client version and this is not enough. Under "Programs & Settings" (don
