AMD R9 280X or R9 290?

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I was originally thinking of getting a GTX 970 with my new pre-built gaming computer I am planning to customize.

However, a lots of people have said that it is a terrible card (?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>) I know 3.5 GB is more than enough... But I don't want to make a SINGLE mistake in terms of GPU... Why should I get the GTX 970 when I can get the R9 280X for £100 less? Or the R9 290 which has a true 4GB of VRAM?

- GTX 970 - https://www.dinopc.com/shop/pc/ShowInfo.asp?SIArray=2254,&cd=Graphics%20card

- R9 280X - https://www.dinopc.com/shop/pc/ShowInfo.asp?SIArray=1856,&cd=Graphics%20card

- R9 290 - https://www.dinopc.com/shop/pc/ShowInfo.asp?SIArray=1875,&cd=Graphics%20card

And an AMD FX 8320.

Please suggest any cons or which one to choose.

People are taking it way overboard. It's not a terrible card. That extra .5GB probably won't even matter in 4k. The 970 is faster than both of the cards, however if you got a 290X, that would be faster by a teeny bit (and probably cheaper).

Okay, I am going for a GTX 970. Also I just found out that ENB Series has some minor issues with an AMD GPU.

EDIT: And plus, it can't be that bad.. After all it IS quality Nvidia and those rumours came from people whp want benchmarks... Lolol
