First of all - thanks for this awesome mod, in my opinion the closest resemblence of a police simulator in gaming at present, and considering it's a mod for an entirely different game, that is without doubt an astounding achievement. I'm "medium" at computers, so please bare with me, if I'm asking something stupid, or already answered. I will and am trying my best to follow both your guidelines for support and common sense. 

 

We are three players, who would like to play LCPDFR together in GTAiv Free Mode. Sadly it is crashing so much, that my friends (who I'm showing this mod to) are losing interest quite fast. :-) The two others have purchased their copy of GTAiv via Steam, and I have owned GTAiv since it was originally released, so I have a 2 DVD hardcopy. We all have game-spec computers that are capable of running GTAiv with ease. One players network connection, I am unsure of, but I have a 95/95 Mbit/s connection with a ping of just 5ms within my country. One of the other players has a 80 Mbit/s fibre optic internet connection. Neither of us experience network related issues in other applications, and we are all familiar with hosting and joining multiplayer session, both via servers, peer to peer and so on. We are attempting to play over the Internet using LIVE and we reside in different countries.

 

 

When enabling the mod and playing in multiplayer (Free Mode), we are experiencing numerous crashes - usually with each 5-10 minutes. It's usually only one player at any given time, that crashes, but it could be any of the players - there is no pattern like "host is always safe". It's usually only one player at a time though, it has happened only once that all session players crash before the others could reconnect. We get either no reported error, or (more often) SMPA60.

 

I have googled and searched this forum, and whenever I see SMPA60, modded cars and parking spaces at safe houses are always blamed. Before we even started trying this, I told my friends they need to do a clean installation, and install LCPDFR and no other mods. No vehicle modding, or anything. So none of us use modded cars, and just as an extra precaution, we have all emptied our parking lot at Romans appartment (only place we have due to new game) and saved the game anew. Thus, we are all using a clean install of GTAiv + LCPDFR automatic installer downloaded from this page after New Year. We don't use ELS, modded cars, other mods (like Police Helper) or anything else. Only GTAiv+LCPDFR.

 

 

Interestingly, we tried last night to have a session without LCPDFR. We did this by not pressing ALT+P, and there was still some crashing, but significantly less. After a while, I crashed, and LCPDFR popped up to restore my session. So I figured it wasn't actually disabled, and therefore I removed the file that calls LCPDFR from the scripts folder. I did not experience further crashes the rest of that evening. My friends still had occasional crashes, but very much less frequent. They did not remove the script call.

 

 

To the best of my knowledge, we are all using 1.0.7.0, and GfWL (the malware service that handles crappy console ports) is updated to it's latest and finest glory. None of us are using a cracked version of the game. We are all using the dsound.dll method of injection. Since I have installed a different OS and not bothered reinstalling GTAiv after, we are all running on a fresh install of GTAiv+LCPDFR, it hasn't left traces in registry or anything like that. I am running the game in a Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit environment, whilst my friends both use Windows 7. All of us can execute the config tool installation checker with full succes, and the features of the mod (like callouts, boat spawns, no wanted level,...) all work - up untill crashing of course. I have played LCPDFR since 0.91 though to RC2, and have never experienced this error or this type of behavior before. I have had one reported error where LCPDFR tells me an error has happened that might cause it to not function, although this did not cause a crash.

 

 

We have of course tried some things to solve this issue.

1. Simple solutions first, we refrain from using light cycles (the forward slash on numeric keyboard) and we don't call in any AI backup. We also don't use an AI partner.
2. I've made (another) fresh installation of my game, again in a new folder.
3. I looked through the configurator, and we all modified options that we thought might help with stability. We did the following; disable holstered taser on player model, disable camera focus on world events, disable police chatter, enable skip transporter cutscene, enable preload all models, disable AI roadblocks, disable update crime statistics, disable auto-save, disable boat callouts, enable use static boat spawn positions and finally enabled don't use random IV on foot pursuits. This had not made noticeable improvements.
4. We have tried using the mod, but not using cop cars.
5. We have tried not using the mod (not pressing ALT+P). Crashes are alot less frequent, but still happen.
6. I have tried removing the file to call the mod from scripts folder. So far, this removed crashing for me, although I am not yet for how long, and this really isn't a solution to play LCPDFR.

I haven't asked my friends for their logs, but I've opened mine and the last many crashes look like this: (I've taken the liberty of copy/pasting, as I am not sure which IP address, it is recording in there.) What I have noticed is some inconsistencies in the log during start up. Some times, some reports are made, and other times they are not, but the succeeding lines are written anyhow. So the log itself appears a bit unstable to me? The logs also "restart" at some points, like one log ending at 9:41:00 and the next starting at 9:41:08, although this clearly would not be long enough to allow me to restart the game, and thus can't be caused by a crash of GTAiv. I also see alot of "Failed at...", yet those things doesn't always cause a crash. I'm not able to make sense of it, since it's not consistant to me - I hope others have more understanding. I also note the change between 12hr format and 24 hr format, and I wonder if this has any significance?

 

 

I'm hoping someone here can chime in, in terms of maybe some experience with SMPA60 when not caused by car modding (which it seems to be for 99%), and who might know what else is causing it? And of course in general, if anyone has any tips we could attempt, in order to fix this, I would appreciate it. Maybe I have simply overlooked something?

 

Also, I am wondering if Steam could be an issue for them? If I tried to add my GTAiv (non-Steam) to my Steam list, to be able to use in game chat, the game simply would not launch, CTDing immediately. They aren't experiencing anything like that, but still I'd like to hear from anyone using GTAiv purchased through Steam, if it's vunerable in that sense?

If someone else on the game has issues with their vehicle modifications, this can cause a SMPA60 for anyone in the session.

SMPA60 is not caused by LCPDFR.

There are no mods or modded content installed to either of our games, only LCPDFR installed onto a fresh installation of GTAiv. The games from which we crash are Free Mode games with Private Slots set to Max. Only the three of us are playing, no other people.
