GTA IV not cooperating with GTX 580

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

Recently i installed EFLC on my brand new computer ( Specs will be posted below) and not to my surprise, the game runs like 1998. I am aware that it is CPU intensive, and not friendly around Nivida cards..

OS - Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

Motherboard - Asus Maximus IV Extreme - Z

CPU- Intel® Core™ i7-2600K CPU @ 3.40GHz

RAM - 16 GB ram

GPU - Gigabyte Nivida GTX 580 Super Over Clock

HDD - Hitachi 2 TB HDD and 60gb SDD

PSU - Coolmax 1000 watts

CASE - Raven RV01-B

Well, i actually bought the EFLC off Steam, and as you probably know, it's 1.0.7.0 version. I don't mean that i actually did the downgrade ( just read the instructions on how to...) but according to the internet ( lol ) version 1.0.4.0 is more stabilized because of it's huge link to an array of modifications.

Steve, how did you manage to get yours up and running without running into conflicting issues like this?

GTA IV goes from 1.0.0.0 to 1.0.7.0

EFLC goes from 1.1.0.0 to 1.1.2.0

You can't mix patches from different games.

Do you have ENB or iCE or any other graphics mods?

You are using the WRONG right theme!

I want you to try this first since we have about the same rig but different company names, make a new text document in your GTA IV folder or EFLC, then paste this in it

-noprecache

-availablevidmem 2.2 I have a gtx 580+570= to my 2.2, just make sure you have the same video mem, but if you are using a single 580 = 1536MB = 1.5GB = -availablevidmem 2.2

-forcehighqualitymirrors

-norestriction

Yes, i am using one Video card. Okay, and do i do the same thing for the target path as well? Because i did this, but i must of added the wrong parameters, because on the video card box, it does say 1536MB. This was the EFLClaunch target path that i had copied off someone who had a similar set-up

-"E:SteamsteamappscommonGrand Theft Auto IV Episodes from Liberty CityEFLCLaunchEFLC.exe" -norestrictions -nomemrestrict -availablevidmem 1.5 -percentvidmem 100

This made my graphic setting in GTA IV go 729/2249mb, which i assume is mistake on my part...

Do i copy everything you said in order, or how should the format be? Do you mind if you can create the .txt and PM it to me? if that's not a problem with you...

Alright, i just installed it in the path dictionary. Checked it out in-game and the mb is still the same, in another words, nothing changed. Did you edit your target line as well?

Edit: Okay, i added it in the target line. Now, 2249mb changed to 1499. Still determining if it made any positive difference....

Edit 2: Things are starting to look positive and stabilized. FPS increased, no more texture cutting out, nor buildings/grounds disappearing. Usually, when I'm 10 minutes in GTA IV, it will crash or lag out. So far, so good, but too early to say that it works...however, I thank you for the file as you just possibly fixed it. I'm keeping my eye on the CPU and fan temperatures - all balanced and cool.

Edit 3: Spoke too soon....the game started to deteriorate...the buildings and road started to disappear as soon i made my way into downtown...I'm starting to question if my Vram is actually good or not....something is making the game go shit....It's not over heating, the cooling is good, the video card doesn't have any incorrect driver versions, i just don't understand wtf is up...The FPS remains high, but the game worsens every 2 minutes...however, on the positive news, some of the issues are fixed thanks to your file.

Edit 4: Here is the benchmark - Statistics

Average FPS: 60.70

Duration: 32.59 sec

CPU Usage: 32%

System memory usage: 25%

Video memory usage: 41%

Graphics Settings

Video Mode: 1360 x 768 (60 Hz)

Texture Quality: High

Shadow Quality: High

Reflection Resolution: High

Water Quality: High

Texture Filter Quality: Anisotropic x8

Night Shadows: Off

View Distance: 39

Detail Distance: 39

Hardware

Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate

Service Pack 1

Video Adapter: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580

Video Driver version: 285.62

Audio Adapter: LG TV-1 (NVIDIA High Definition Audio)

Intel

No, i am not using any visual modifications.

I'm pretty sure that it's my Vram - It's not allocating enough memory for GTA IV?...I compared my result to others, and most of them have achieved over 80% video memory...

It's either that, or something else...

I just PM you with some more instruction...

How does this help other people on the forum who may have the same issue or for future people who search and find this post.

Visit me on youtube. The most common reason for crashing is user error. Make sure you have the latest RAGE, ScripthookV, ScripthookVdotnet and turn off your antivirus. Make sure you have an up to date gameconfig.xml as well. Use Allbo's plugin troubleshooter to find any errors too.

The problem was that he was using the

stock Intel I7 2600K Fan and he's going to fix that by buying himself a better one...

Here's the rest of the convo on that page: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cFQBdUbs6p0&list=UUbItyvYa6cqvqtwlU2E9-wA&feature=plcp
