So... I have intel integrated graphics... And you will say it can't run this it cant run that... But for the past year I have been getting playable framerates bunched with mods. So, I found a mod called RealitiyIV... Only modifed shaders and timecycle. I said 'Oh, this one shouldn't be too heavy on my system' and installed it (after backing up the files it modified) and it worked! But, I wanted to go back to vanilla (colours too vibrant and laptop too hot + lag) ... So I restored the full backup... Went in game and then my jaw LITERALLY dropped.

So here are the symptoms:

The text in all of my scripts are as blurry as hell.

The textures are so blurry, even on medium.

All the colours are way too bright.

The game is generally slower and less stable.

I don't understand this bull****, the game yesterday was working like a charm... And the backups are the EXACT same files... But still it changes everything...

Any help would be greatly appreciated (my worst problem with the game so far is this).

P.S. I'm on my iPad, so I can't post a screenshot or a commandline right now. Also the commandline doesn't really matter because it ran the game optimally on my rubbish PC, it's the same file put back in the folder but it doesn't work properly.

Oh and when I say everything Is the same as before in the backup, I mean that because all of the in-game settings, fine, textures on medium but coming up like they're on low, still happening etc. hate this game when it gets buggy.

You didn't back everything up then if you're still getting the issues. Make sure that you delete all files that came with the mod, in addition to restoring your backups.

That's the point. I backed EVERYTHING up, the shaders folder, the visualSettings.dat, the coronas and skydome.wtd... I backup up everything that the mod modified. It only replaces, not adds. Then I restored all of the backups, and it just turned the whole game upside down.

It's impossible if you did back everything up. Did you make a copy of your GTA IV Folder, deleted your modded one, and copied the correct one back? That's the only way to make sure. These graphic mods mess things up.

Yeah man... I just got home from school so I'll re download the original shaders from the internet and the default timecycle... My PC is so pathetic it can't run much...

Hey I fixed it! I just copied the visualSettings.dat into a new folder by accident rather then common/data. But there is still one problem. I always had the popping texture bug in my game but it was so minor I never noticed it. Now the game looks fine, just all the script text and textures are as blurry as he'll, even when the settings are on medium. Also there isn't as much orange as usual on extra sunny. Any help?

Solved: inseri was right, I accidently copied the visualSettings.dat to an incorrect folder, but the reason for the blurry textures was da f***ing GPU. Go to hell intel. In graphics>options on desktop I set it to performance, not quality a few days ago to see the fps change. Actually it performs better with quality, textures load like a charm, and the game has a tiny bit more VRAM to use. Thanks for your time and help, and sorry I didn't realise the textures problem was such a petty cause! Thanks guys ;)
