older ELS vehicles into ELS8 question

I've been a silent community member for awhile, and usually figure this stuff out myself, but I'm confused on how to change ELS 6 and 7 vehicles into ELS 8 compatable modles. Currently running ELS 8, many of my older ELS vehicles display the lights in the wrong place, or don't turn on at all.

 

I looked for configure files to change the old ELS vehicles to new ones, and I saw the howto included in ELS 8, the problem is the older vehicles don't come with the configure files to drop into the ELS 8 folder... so I have no idea how to go about messing with values to fix my older vehicles.

 

Any guidence would be appreciated. Thanks.
