Depends on what state you are living in. Each state has their own statutes regarding crimes, if you take the person you kidnapped across state lines (or into another country for that matter) then the FBI and possibly the US Marshals get involved as well. Like I said before, just depends on what state you are in; not only for the amount of time you could serve but also what the criteria for the crime is. Most states have similar or the exact same criteria for a crime but it isn't always the case.
