Game crash when I spawn modded vehicle

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

I've been playing around with the model I put together in Zmodeler and once I was happy with it I exported it and loaded it using OpenIV.

Problem: when I spawn the car in game using my trainer, I crash.

How can I fix this issue?

All help is appreciated.

Did you try again? Like starting IV again and trying again? If it still doesnt work there really isnt anything you can do.

Yep the model is corrupted. Replace your vehicles.img with a original backup.

Feel free to PM me for help! Also please hit the like button if anything I said helped or made ya laugh. Specialty is computer hardware and assembling so feel free to ask anything if you need help :)

Being that you created the model, there could be many scenarios as to why your game crashes. Is there any error associated with the crash, or is it a basic GTA IV has stopped responding? Depending on how much work you did to the vehicle, it could have been too many polys for your game to handle. Also, it could have been an error you made when working in it, such as accidentally moving the chassis dummy a little, which can cause your car to excessively bounce and likely crash your game with so much chaos. I would try to re-import your creation and copy it to a new vehicle in-case something such as the last scenario did happen.

Edit: By reading the title of the OP, is this issue happening with all modded vehicles or just your own?

i've had that allot of times, might be a object something like a extra placed in the wrong hierachy, so just check your hierachy and if you made some scratch objects, make sure they have a dummy.

I'll check my hierarchy because I think that's the issue, but just to run through everyone's suggestions:

1) It only happens with this one vehicle

2) The crash happens when I spawn the car, the game just closes itself - no errors.

3) And how can I tell if the polys are too high for the game?

Thanks again!

Look in openiv it tells you the polygons of each car, also mabey try removing one part at a time, till it stops the RC20 error. It can be caused by an object you added to the model!

I don't think it's RC20, he says his game just crashes.

Go ahead and check your hierarchy, if nothing else just take a picture of it and post it here for us to check. Also post how many polys your model is by the method that chevyboy posted, it should be in the top left or right corner when checking a vehicle. Also please try as I mentioned before (re-adding the equipment) as you may have accidentally moved something such as your chassis without knowing.

I went ahead and got copies of the info you asked about. The polygons are at 24,533. What is the highest you should really go? And if that's too high, how do you lower the amount?

As for my hierarchy, here's a snip I took of it:

I got it working! I started from scratch and put things into the hierarchy differently and it loaded right up. I'll test it a couple more times and keep you guys updated.
