The game won't let me run a higher resolution

Featured Replies

I'm using an Asus Radeon R9 280x 3GB DirectCU II but for some reason, I can't increase the resolution to 1080p. My monitor is 1080p, and all of my hardware is pretty decent (i5 4690K 3.5 GHz, MSI Z97 G45 MOBO). Anyone know what's up?

Throw in your command line file:

-width 1920
-height 1080

Thanks. Would you mind telling me how to do that exactly? (Sorry, I'm very new to PCs)

In your root GTA4 directory (by root directory, I mean the one containing gtaiv.exe or eflc.exe) create a new text file named commandline.txt and paste those parameters in.

How to I create a new text file? I'm really sorry man

How to I create a new text file? I'm really sorry man

Method A: Right-click or press your MENU key in an empty section of the folder, and click NEW > Text Document, then rename.

Method A

Method B: Open up your text editor (I prefer Notepad++, but Notepad works) and paste in the parameters. Save it to your desktop as "commandline.txt" then move it to your root GTA4 directory.

Thank you. The quality is much better, but that graphics screen showing the red text regarding my gpu usage still shows up. Weird..

GTA's odd like that. My old GPU would struggle to hit 10 frames per second yet it'd say I had about 750 megs of onboard memory left.

If it starts bugging out, turn down your traffic density, texture quality, stuff like that.
