Need Help with Controller Mapping

Featured Replies

I need help mapping my siren and els lights controls onto my controller, because the only thing I hear when I hit the default (left joystick) is the airhorn. Also it is a pain hitting J,K,L,G, and T every time I want to activate the lights and sirens. Please help me with this, your help is greatly appreciated. I searched everywhere on the forums for a fix. Also if you have a tweaked LCPDFR.ini for the Controller settings please paste below. Thanks in advance, - Chaz.

There are 2 things you could do to get ELS mapped to your controller.

The first is you can turn on Express Mode in ELS and then map that keybind to the controller if ELS supports it well enough. Express Mode basically disables all of the toggles (so j,k l t etc) and switches it to pretty much replace the default siren lights. So when you press G or whatever controller button you bind, it will act just as if it was an ordinary siren. (note this disables the ability to toggle individual lights, if you do toggle a light or the siren in particular it auto-disables express mode)

The alternative is to use a macro program to bind your controller button. This will mean when you press the controller button you bind, it will tell the pc to react as if J,K and L were all pressed.

I don't think there is any other way (that avoids mapping each possible keybind).

Hope this helps

You can find macro programs on the internet. They basically take the "command" you input (so the keybind) and then do a bunch of stuff for you.

As for mapping the ELS keys, open the ELS config file there should be a keybind section that's like

ToggleMainKey=keyHere

It will either be a key like "J" or a number representing the key.

For the togglemainkey and stuff like that what do I change it to to make it an xbox controller button?

I'm not too sure what the keybind name is for the xbox controllers off the top of my head. But if you check the lcpdfr config file you might see a reference, or online. I'm away from my desktop right now so can't check it for you sorry.

I hate to continuously bug you but you are the only one who is helping me at the moment. Soooo. Is there any confirmed way at al in which I can get the ELS script to work on my controller. Is there any way I can map it like LCPDFR.ini to make it compatible with the controller. It's hard because I don't know if anyone has actually done it, but In youtube vids lots of people are using a controller with ELS I just don't know if they are using the keyboard for it. Seems like a pain I just want the most convenience.

I'm more than happy to try and help you. But I'm currently away from my desktop until later tonight or tomorrow.

Oh geez man sorry I thought you got home. It's no hurry I don't mean to cause any inconvenience, just hmu when you get home or when you are willing to talk about it.

No need to apologize, I was just letting you know I was away from my PC.

Right if you look in the LCPDFR.ini file, you will find below the [Keybinds] section is another section called [KeybindingsController].

If you look below that you can see some examples of controller keybinds. Try assigning something like that to your ELS configuration file.

If that doesn't work then I'm going to assume your only option is to put your ELS into Express Mode like I previously mentioned, then all you need to do is check what the game's default control is for the horn/siren when using a controller.

That didn't work, however the express mode did. I do want to try one last thing because the macro programs don't work with GTA IV, I want to try this script but I don't know what to do. I read the small instructions, but I do not know how to apply the keys to the controller. You can take a look if you would like.
