Game crashes every 20 minutes

Featured Replies

Hello, I am very new to this mod and have recently purchased GTA IV just for this mod.

I ran the game once and played it for about 1 hour (no mods installed) I then got bored and decided it was time to install lcpdfr so I installed LCPDFR 1.0c along with ELS 8.0 along with Doppler's Merseyside Police Pack. ever since I have installed these I can only play for about 20 minutes and then it will crash. I'm not sure which mod is causing this but I would love some help!

Update: I am now getting an actual error message when the game crashes, maybe it will help.

"GTA IV FATAL ERROR: Unrecoverable fault - Please restart the game

Update: I have since left Braveheart, and now use vpcallouts. Not to be confused with VipCallouts. I have never crashed while responding to a call from vpcallouts. Hope this info helps, but remember that crashing comes mostly from cars that are too high poly, or from pursuits.

Well I'm able to play for up to 3 hours. These are simply my preferences, yours may differ from mine.

I only modify 1 police vehicle, and I make sure the download is less than 6 mb. (CJ24's NYPD CVPI from 2013 I think)

I never respond to a call that turns into a pursuit, nor do I take part in pursuits as they always crash.

I have installed Braveheart's Policing Script, and therefore I press F7 to turn off LCPDFR callouts because they're mostly buggy anyway.

If a pursuit starts during a traffic stop, immediately shoot the driver (works for me)

car mods are generally high poly, so the more cars they load the more strain it puts on your game. it eventually "crashes" because there is too much your PC or game can handle. Limit the amount of car mods you have, I normally have about 3 installed and i crash about every 15 minutes. crashing and stabability varies from computer to computer.
