Light Mods

Featured Replies

Hello,

I'm new to LCPDFR. I just barely got my mod to work and started getting use to everything. I've got ELS v8 installed and I can work it. i was wondering, is there a way to make my lights look better/brighter? The vidoes I've watched everyone has their lights looking really good. Flashing on the road, walls etc. Is this another mod? I've looked through the forms a bit and tried a few things but I haven't had much success. Any help would be great.

Thank you.

Hi, welcome to the forums!

You can increase the environmental lighting effects in the ELS.ini file (under MISC SETTINGS) to achieve brighter environmental lighting. If you want brighter ELS lights though, you'll have to increase the emissive lights in your visualsettings.dat (located in the common/data folder) and/or install an ENB.

# Other emissive lights
car.defaultlight.emissive.on 120
car.defaultlight.emissive.off 0.05
car.brakelight.emissive.on 1
car.brakelight.emissive.off 0.05
car.middlebrakelight.emissive.on 1
car.middlebrakelight.emissive.off 0.05
car.reversinglight.emissive.on 14
car.reversinglight.emissive.off 0.05
car.extralight.emissive.on 12
car.extralight.emissive.off 0.05

Hi, welcome to the forums!

Thank you for the super quick response. Where exactly do I find this ELS.ini file (not sure what the MISC SETTINGS are?). Sorry i'm so noob. And could you direct me to a good ENB? What does that stand for.

Thank you!!!

In additions to Reibu's post, If you choose to edit the Visualsettings.dat file you only need to change one number. Change the line "car.default.emmisive.on 10" to a higher number.

If you are using an un-edited timecycle.dat the value of that line should be 10 by default (or close to 10). just change it to 15 or 20 to start with and test it in game then repeat the process until you're happy with it.

Or you could skip the hard work and install an ENB or time cycle mod that is already optimised for els like this.

Edit: ENB mods are the reason that so many people's game looks so nice but you need a powerful computer to use them. If you're computer can't handle an ENB then download a timecycle mod instead. a timecycle mod improves the look of the game but doesn't affect performance. There is many different versions of each so i suggest you use youtube or google to find one you like and do a little research on what they actually do to your game.

Good luck...
