I've installed ELS v8 and now my game will not start up. Goes to the social club log in screen and once I click play it does nothing. It was working prior to this.

 

I just got a new desktop and I've been installing lcpdfr and cars for hours, running into problems that I've eventually solved but I can't figure this one out. Can someone please tell me what to do?

First question: Have you bought the game?

yes. purchased from steam

Are you running the game as administrator? Using the latest patch? What mods are you using? List them please. Which operating system are you using? 

 

Running the game as administrator: Go to the GTA IV folder, right click on GTAIV.exe, Properties, Compatibility and select 'Run this program as administrator', do the same exact thing to the LaunchGTAIV.exe.

Lastly, please keep in mind that LCPDFR 1.0 isn't supported with any third-party mods. 

 

yes I am running as admin. just download 1.0 and the only mod I have is lcpdfr and a few cars Ive imported. I have. windows 8.1.

Well Windows 8 isn't officially supported with GTA IV sadly. Does it work without mods? 

 yes. it works with lcpdfr and the cars I got. Its just when I download ELS it stopped working

It's probably your ELS cars. Could you try some other cars? What are your specs, btw? 

Not entirely sure. its an alienware x51 i3. So I should only have cars that are ELS compatible?

Well, should isn't the word I'd pick. I only use the Vanilla cars, no car mods at all. But yes, if you want to use ELS, you will need to use ELS enabled cars. 

but will that get my game to start up again? and what is vanilla cars?

In the context of game modding, "vanilla" refers to unmodded content that shipped with the original game - "vanilla install" would then refer to an install with absolutely no mods, "vanilla cars" are the Rockstar-made cars that came with GTA IV and EFLC, etc.

I do not know, you'll have to try it.

Apparently I had the game already opened......-___- but as I start playing it for about 30 seconds it crashes

How do I delete the other cars from spark IV?

You use the backups you made prior to installing the mods. Because they tell you to make backups everywhere. 

oh....so I should just uninstall the game and reinstall. Idk how to make backups

You simply copy the file to a different place and then keep it there for when you need it. If you didn't do that, you'll have to reinstall.
