New 2014 Ford Explorer Police Interceptors Design

Featured Replies

Because we're all police car fanatics out there, I just wanted to release some pictures of the new 2014 Ford Explorer Police Interceptor SUV. The new SUV features "Interceptor" written accross the top of the hood and an entirely new redesign of the grill. As for specs of the car, I don't think there is a difference. (Still same V6 ect).

Any opinions out there, better, worse?

Eck... Worse in my opinion. I know there were a lot of complaints about the grille because it didn't really leave room for lights to be mounted, but this is really isn't much better. Also the "INTERCEPTOR" badging is just plain stupid. Why put that across the hood like that? It just wastes valuable real estate for other decals. Where are they gonna write "POLICE" or "SHERIFF" etc. now? It's bad enough there's barely any space for graphics on the back, now you're gonna fill up the front too? My local department just got a big order of PI Utilities, and they took off the plates in the back just so they could fit the word "POLICE".

I completely agree, I really don't like it too much. My local dept. got a new SUV, there is no space on the back to write the name of the department and police I think it's partly written on the bumper.

That's the issue when you get car companies that create civilian cars and then do a half ass job to get government contracts in there too. The police really deserve better, and by better I mean a purpose built vehicle or at the very least a car designed with civilian and police models in mind. (they say they do, but never works out).

Ewwwwwwwwww

EDIT: Has this been confirmed by Ford?

Yes, this is the midway-through-2014 refresh they had been planning for a while. You can see more pictures in the 2014 Michigan State Police test results.
