Hello,

I am a newcomer to LCPDFR and GTA IV. I just got a computer capable of running GTA well and installed GTA IV via Steam on Saturday.

Nothing happens when I try to use ALT+P to start LCPDFR. I am running a Steam version of GTA IV on Windows 8. I have uninstalled and reinstalled using the automatic installer, and I just tried doing the manual install and applying the hotfix and no luck so far. I play without a internet connection, if that could be relevant, but I have Steam in Offline Mode and I don't launch through Steam, I launch through running LaunchGTA.exe as an administrator.

I would attach my log files but I don't see any in my GTA IV directory.  I will a screenshot of my GTA IV directory. There is too many files to fit in one screenshot. It takes a little more than one, so I attached two so you can see all the files.

I would greatly appreciate any help!

Hello, have you read the manual installation guide? You have both xlive and dsound in your game directory, you need to remove one of them. Sidenote: When using the manual installation, there is no need to apply the hotfix, as it is already included.

I deleted DSound and kept XLIVE since it disables Windows Games Live, and since i never have a internet connection when i play, and thus will never use it.

I then launched GTA IV and hit ALT+P, nothing happened. I also tried P and CTRL+P, nothing happened.

I have made zero progress in the campaign and launch to the scene where I just got off the boat and am supposed to drive to Roman's apartment. The fact that I have made zero progress in the campaign affect whether LCPDFR should start?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Try to start the game without the mod, play the first mission and save and try again. Also, please install these

Try this, just copy and paste this file after you've installed 1.0 or 1.0a in your main directory

I had the exact same problem as you and I went through about 100 forums trying everything and this worked!!!

Its an older advanced hook that I found in some forum

Hope this helps

Anybody? Help?!

Hope you enjoy that mod then. 1.0 is considered to be much more stable, but I am sorry you didn't get it to run.

Decided to try to fix 1.0

Can you suggest any more possible solutions?

I would be very grateful!

I reinstalled GTAIV and for some reason it worked. I had already tried reinstalling before, but this time was apparently the magic touch. Got LCPDFR working and installed ELS and some cars and i'm good to go!

Thanks to everybody for trying to help me figure it out!
