Falling down...WTF!?

Featured Replies

I don't normally go on the forums as much. I do go on this site every day for a few years now, what I am about to tell you may sound funny in some sense haha!

I was modding my GTA for a while back, that's including the illegal copy, and sometimes it does crash on occasions. So I thought, well fk it! I might as well buy it, knowing at the time it would stop the crashing and get to use enhanced graphics mods as well :)

So, It doesn't matter what version I use because my illegal copy works perfectly, yet my steam version I bought is being a total pain atm :( When I put in the mods...When you go to the station to put on my uniform, and what not. Just when I stand on the red spot...I somehow loading, then BAM! I somehow fall through the ground, and end up on the other side of the city.

Yet, this never happened to me before and that also never happens on my illegal copy...which is kinda funny in some sense lol.

Any help guys?

Thanks!

Charlie.

Are you running the game as administrator?

Never even thought of that. Would that fix the problem? I hope Steam will allow me to run Admin.

I'll let you know how It goes.

Thank you.

You will have to go to the Steam GTA IV directory (steamappscommon) and right click on GTAIV.exe, Properties, Compatibility and select 'Run this program as administrator', do the same exact thing to the LaunchGTAIV.exe.

Invenio, Investigatio, Imperium

I followed the instructions you gave me. However, it still didn't fix it.

This is what I have installed:

ELS

LCPDFR Mod

2.1 IC Enchanced Mod

and 2 UK police cars.

That was it.

And you are using the same mods, and same setup, and same install order as on your other illegal copy?

the illegal as most of the mod cars in it, including the uniforms. Either it's Steam that's interupting the mod script or I've put in the 100% save file into my Xlive folder.

Ugh! this is such a pain lol.

My illegal copy is installed on my External HD with no problems, apart from a few crashes but thats it. This steam version is going haywire with the stupid falling in the station when I stand in the spot.

It is definitely not a patch problem due to steam automatically patching GTA IV to the highest extent.

Here's what I would do:

1. Go to the Steam Library (With the list of your games)

2. Right click GTA IV and click on properties.

3. Click on the Local Files tab of the properties window.

4. Click "Verify Integrity of Game Cache" and let it run.

This procedure will restore all of your files. After step 4 is finished, install LCPD:FR without any mods whatsoever.

If it does not crash, install one mod at a time until it crashes, leading to the faulty mod.

An illegal copy of the game is completely different in terms of stability and code.

Reply with any other issues you may have. You should no longer fall which might have been caused by a faulty installation of GTA or mod(s).

Hope I helped!

Just a quick update. I had to reinstall the game because I downloaded a 100% save file and the file overwritten something in the XLive folder. Maybe that was causing the problem.

If that is the case, I won't be able to install mods until I complete the game 100% myself.

This is lame...

It may not work depending on the location that you have installed the savegame. Can you give the path where you have installed the file? It may be the location that is has been installed into that is messing with the game. If all else fails, you could possibly use the xliveless wrapper for an asi loader to get rid of GFWL, thus making the savegame installation possibly work.

I am only helping from experience with GTA IV and the lcpdfr mod. If I helped, you are welcome in advance.

Thank you for coming in to help :)

I've got the path of where the GTA IV is installed by Steam: C:Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonGrand Theft Auto IV

Hoping to keep the 100% save file out and see if that will stop the crashing. Then put in my normal mods that don't causes the game to crash.

IF THE SAVEGAME IS PRIORITY TO YOUR GAMEPLAY:

It is more than likely that you are using a corrupt savegame. If it works fine to everybody else, you can use a mod software that is called OpenIV. I use this software to mod as well.

What I do to install my GTA IV Savegames:

1. Reinstall lcpdfr and select xliveless for an asi loader if you do not plan to play on multiplayer. Our main issue is the GFWL client, so it is best to get that out of the way.

2. Delete your savegame and proceed to download and install OpenIV (Same as Spark Iv with a much more user friendly interface.)

3. Run OpenIV and click on your game, give the steam path (C:Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonGrand Theft Auto IV) and you will be greeted with a screen that shows game files (Models, data, etc.)

4. Navigate to user data and you will see a savegame. If you do not see a savegame, don't panic. Enter edit mode and drop your savegame into the user data folder whether you see a savegame or not.

IMPORTANT!!!:

If you see a savegame inside the user data folder,  extract your savegame to the desktop and replace the current savegame with the new one.

Report back with any questions. :)

Thanks for getting back to me. I will try this option out tonight, and hope this will be it. I shouldn't expect to get you guys to reply tomorrow or boxing day as I feel bad for taking up your time.

Again, Thanks for you're support :)

Yep, now the game crashed as soon as the loading up new game starts. Wow...how can a purchased game cause more problems than a copy version. Is it possible to install the game outside the Steam's folder?
