  • The Chinese did not confront the the US, the US confronted the Chinese navy.   The Chinese had their own vessel, an aircraft carrier in international waters when US vessel APPROACHED the Chinese car

  • I'd say that the whole world, not just China are lucky if a nuclear war is avoided. However military confrontations like these happens all the time. It might ignite a spark at the moment, but it will

  • Last post I will make - Also, I love the US and hate to take the "otherside", but someone has to do it.   Alright. China is provoking the US & Japan. We know. It's not a new thing, but the worst

I'd say that the whole world, not just China are lucky if a nuclear war is avoided. However military confrontations like these happens all the time. It might ignite a spark at the moment, but it will disappear soon enough. No harm done so far, which is good.

Sidenote: I honestly don't think that a country, even North Korea "got the balls" to start a nuclear war. There's nothing to win with it since the whole world will probably be destroyed once the "war" is over...

It might be a bad move by China or the captain of the ship (We don't know that China actually ordered that move). But small confrontations like these happens all the time, so don't you worry.

Those are my thoughts, have a nice day/evening :)

this isn't the fist thing China has done to raise tensions for the US and Japan their new Air ID zone covers islands that Japan has claimed China is asking for a war lets hope that doesn't happen

Note: I'm not here to debate, just talking about my opinion.

No it's not, as I said - Military confrontations and tensions happens all the time, this is not the first time. They've ignited a spark and, it is soon to be put out.

FYI if you're talking about the islands I believe you're talking about, they're "no-mans land". They're neither Japanese territory nor Chinese. So technically both Japan and China are provoking eachother.

Anyways China and Japan have a long history of wars and twists, I'm sure that it will continue for a while. As long as both parts keep their heads cool, it will be alright.

Let's hope no big war starts over there and enjoy our day.

It sounds like the Chinese navy was doing their thing and the US decided that it would test the Chinese:

According to the officials, the run-in began after a Chinese navy vessel sent a hailing warning and ordered the Cowpens to stop. The cruiser continued on its course and refused the order because it was operating in international waters.

Then a Chinese tank landing ship sailed in front of the Cowpens and stopped, forcing the Cowpens to abruptly change course in what the officials said was a dangerous maneuver.

The Chinese told the US vessel to stay away, it is my understanding that military naval vessels, especially carriers are protected by exclusion zones, prohibiting other vessels or aircraft from entering without permission.

In this case the US approached the Chinese carrier, presumably on course to enter the exclusion zone, the Chinese sent a warning to the US vessels, the US vessels ignored so the Chinese did exactly as they should and guided the intruding vessel out of the exclusion zone.

I used to work with a older gentleman that served in our navy during the mid to late 80's, the USSR penetrated into our waters on a daily basis to probe a reaction from our navy, they'd intercept and escort the vessel out while both sides photographed each other extensively.

The Russians still do this in our airspace, every now and then MiG's will enter our airspace, prompting RDAF to escort them back out.

It's politics. They want to show each other that they're present and that both sides can hold their own.

Alright. China is provoking the US & Japan. We know. It's not a new thing, but the worst that can happen now IMO is that the US starts threatening China. I think that people are underestimating China's capacity and their ability to keep cool. China recently changed leaders and the new leader isn't really attacking the US in a diplomatic way nor military way.

It was a military stand off, it happens all the time. Don't know if anyone remembers the recent stand off with Iran. It turned out good since both parts kept their heads cool & the economical problem for Iran.

China wouldn't really start a war since their economy is mainly based on export, US is one of their "biggest customers", and US owes China a lot of money. They wouldn't want to loose both their money and economical growth.

I'd fight for the US anyday, just that these are my opinions.

Have a nice day, last message from me unless someone has something intresting to add to this topic.

So ordering the USS cowpen to to stop completely in the water is China doing its thing???????

Yes, the US would have something to complain about if they had to intercept Chinese vessels, but it's the other way round here. The US entered the exclusion zone that were aware of (as their own carriers has these too) to see what the Chinese would do.

It's a non-story because it happens every day all over the world. It's a part of the political game, nobody wants to look weak even though they full well know that its' pointless.
