MAJOR PROBLEM

Featured Replies

Hello, So I've download GTA IV on my new PC, Along with ELS LCPD FR and just a few police cars.

But now its acting weird, For one when I try to choose a vehicle once I get to the third one my player just stands there and does absolutely nothing. Can move or anything. And when I got to my map and pop back IG everything is disappeared.

And too, Now whenever I try to make a new save game. It crashes about 5 seconds after I press it.

Also when I alt tab it crashes, EVERYTIME. There hasn't been one occasion where it hasn't.

Ive uninstalled my mods then my game, Im really not sure why its doing this again.

It did the same thing on my old PC. And its taking away from my internet usage constantly but reinstalling and uninstalling. If someone could please help me I would be very grateful.

SPECS: inter core I3-3240 CPU @ 3.40GHz

Well the first issue is probably the trying to save in game. If your on duty while saving a game then you'll most likely crash or you wouldn't be able to load that save again.  The alt+tab think I'm in the dark about. I don't know what the issue would be there. The issue with choosing the vehicle, is it at the police station? If so then either you've installed some high poly modded cars or you've installed too many modded cars. The only being able to switch to three vehicles could be due to the fourth vehicle being too high poly to load and the map disappearing as well.

Would you mind giving links to all the modded vehicles you installed?

Hello, Thanks for replying so soon. I couldn't post a link, It wont let me for somehow, But these are the mods I am using, The link is on the video on youtube.

Also, What you said about the new game crashing when in LCPD FR is true, Now that I think about it I was in LCPD FR each time I tried, And I believe the police pack was pretty high poly like you said, Since I would play about 30 minutes and my buildings and grass and just about all other objects stopped loading for me.

Thanks for the help man, Although I've already uninstalled my game. I'll be sure to try theese

The problem is that your computer is running out of video ram to store the world textures and car models in. When your computer tries to load the "third" car into vram, there isn't enough space, which causes it to unload the world textures, but the game will just freeze because it can't spawn the car. Your specs should be sufficient to run the game, but the only way to fix this would be to use a command line, upgrade your computer, or use lower-poly models.

Also, you should make a backup of your un-modded GTAIV folder so you don't have to re-install the whole game every time something gets messed up. If you have steam, you can also use the repair installation button in the game options, which only re-downloads the files that you've changed (though it doesn't remove any files that you added, like any asi mods or script mods, you have to remove those yourself). I'd recommend making a backup over the repair installation, as it's easier in the long-run (for example if you just need to replace your vehicles.img)

Yes sir.

Did you buy the game? Running the game as administrator? Latest patch?

I've never found out how to use a command line, Me and my friends play LCPD FR a lot. They use it, But I've never been tought. How do I do this command line. And does it actually help?

Is UAC disabled? UAC is a part of Windows Security introduced with Windows Vista. It will not allow the user (you) to do any change to the computer without giving a warning message. It’s quite annoying and if you have some common sense, it will not be a danger to disable it. Disabling UAC:

1. Open the start menu.
2. Type “UAC” (without quotes)
3. Pull the “slider” all the way down and accept the changes. A reboot may be required in some rare cases.

Commandline
To circumvent a less powerful computer, and maybe get the game up and running, you can create a txt file called “commandline.txt” (without quotes) in your main GTA IV installation directory

Yes, and then you can add switches like -nomemrestrict to the file. Refer to this guide for more info.

Also, if you have the steam copy of the game, you can just click "set launch options" under the game properties and put the switches there.

Also, if you press Alt+Tab, it will switch you out of the game. That is a Windows feature that I am pretty sure cannot be changed. In order to go on duty in LCPDFR, you need to press Alt+P.
