A Look At The Rcmp Ford Taurus

Featured Replies

I finally found a video with more of a description and how these cars work and the new equipment they use vs what the crown vic uses....

What made it impossible to update the crown vic engine? they used the same equipment as these 2013 model Taurus' do:

Federal Signal Legend

Whelen Vertex

Grill Lights

Inner Edges

& LED Wig Wag system

Why not use the chargers? like they did in 2006?

I love it! And, to answer your question, Chargers are expensive, and they are gas guzzlers, they're also expensive to maintain. So, because they're countrywide, they probably spend a lot of money on their fleet (including their ponies) so they don't really want to spend that much on Chargers.

SCNG FTW!!

But switching from a 4.6L V8 engine RWD to a new V6 FPI that is AWD, I can't really see much difference in gas mileage.

Really all they'd be good for is tracking winter.

Like I said, it's also the fact that the Charger is on the borderline of muscle and sports car, so you pay a premium for the name. On top of that, the equipment needed to modify the Charger probably costs a lot more, since Ford probably had in mind they were discontinuing the most used police car in the world, and that they had to make a new PPV.
