I have windows 8 and have trued all of the steps listed on the forums but none has worked for me. I have ran as admin , unchecked read only, and have uninstalled and updated my games for windows live but nothing seems to work. The message " Exception EFCCreateError in module DSOUND.dll at 000116C5. Cannot create fill C:/Program Files (x86)/Rockstar Games/ Grand Theft Auto IV/asilog.text  .access is denied." keeps appearing when I try to launch gta. When I run lauchgaiv.exe as admin it gets stuck on the starting new game page. PLEASE HELP!!

 

 

 

I also have installed 7.0.1 patch and ran xliveless and came up with the same results.

Do you actually have the dsound.dll in your GTA folder?

Look if your main GTA IV folder is checked as read only.

Have you tried disabling User Account Control completely? And I believe sKuare meant to say "Look to see if your GTA folder is checked as read only" rather than "readme," but you said you already tried that.
