How to make GTA IV, LCPDFR and other mods run more smoothly

Featured Replies

Good Afternoon,

Let me start by saying I've been playing LCPDFR for quite some time. In fact, it was my reasoning for buying my computer. However, i'm not able to run GTA IV at maximum, or near maxium graphics and from time to time, my computer will crash (i'm running the game on darn near minimum everything in regards to settings). To give some information, I do have many mods installed in addition to LCPDFR including Braveheart's Policing Script and some vdh stuff (police helper, tow service) and I understand that isn't exactly helping. Can anyone, especially members of the LCPDFR support community, give me some pointers on how to make my computer handle this, and other games, better?

Much appreciated,

TheMebster

Try using Razer Game Booster. It should give you a couple of extra frames per second.

Make sure you've closed all background processes that are not required, either by the system or by you personally.

Also, make sure your PC meets the specs to run GTA IV. If it is, and you're still having problems, try re-installing, re-patching or removing car models and script files. Then reinstall one by one to see what seems to slow the game down the most.

Hope this helps!

Thanks FirstResponder!

Another question (i'm no computer guru), what about perhaps getting a better video card or more ram? I'd really like to play at full graphics as I have seen many players do in YouTube videos (now I'm just getting picky hahaha) If I were to get some better hardware, would my computer be able to better handle the additional mods as well? I finally deleted the Braveheart one due to that seemed to be the trouble-making modification.

Yes, if you got better hardware components your PC will be able to better handle additional modifications. You can take a look >this topic if you are planning to upgrade your PC. You can also as well take a look at >this topic on how to play GTA IV smoothly on a low-end computer, it might give you a little bit more FPS.

^ What he said. PM me if you need some more help!
