I've searched through the forum to hopefully make sure I wasnt reposting a previous problem.

I got GTA & tried to install the LCPDFR mod but got constant error messages, like Exception EFCreateError in module DSOUND.dll at 000116C5
Cannont create file 'C:Program files (x86)Rockstar GamesGrand theft Auto IVasilog.txt'. Access is Denied.

 

After searching those messages many of them said I needed the latest patch for GTA (because attempting to run as administrator didnt work either). I downloaded it from rockstar as well as tried it from other sites too. What constantly happens is I get the patch in WinZip & when i try to lauch the exe file, it comes up with windows installer 'preparing to download' for a split second, then disappears, no error messages, no nothing, just disappears. If I run through the installer in the msi file, it comes up with an error message "Installation Failed Run Setup to Install Update".

 

Either way I'm not very good with computers and Im just trying to get this mod to work & be understandable enough for me to work with it

When installing LCPDFR, make sure to run the installer as Administrator (right click the installer, select "Run as Admin").  Also, make sure your GTAIV root game folder is not set to read-only.  Right click the folder and deselect read-only....do this first.

 

If you still have issue try downloading the Diagnostic Tool located at the bottom of the download page.  Run it and post the output here.  You need  minimum of about 4gigs of Ram and about a 1gig vid card to run GTAIV, as well as at least a dual core 1.8gig processor.
