during the updating process, I receive a message saying "Couldn't open key: UNKNOWN/Components/870BED1EE52A2F342EAA927483824968/B380454580315844FB71110100D03810. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel." And then it stops updating

Open 'Run' in windows, and try entering this code:

 

secedit /configure /cfg %windir%infdefltbase.inf /db defltbase.sdb /verbose

 

Then run the patch install again from R*

it says I don't have permission to run that in command prompt. something about administrator

it says on the command prompt that it was completed with an error. does that matter?
