Is there any tool you can download or way to automatically update GTA IV? Because everytime I manually try, it fails. Thanks!

If you mean to update the title to 1.0.7.0, the only tool I'm aware of is the one provided by Rockstar Games, at:

What is the error you get / what happens when it fails? Is a message displayed?

during the updating process, I receive a message saying "Couldn't open key: UNKNOWN/Components/870BED1EE52A2F342EAA927483824968/B380454580315844FB71110100D03810. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel." And then it stops updating

Did you run it as an administrator?

Yes, and Walmart

Open 'Run' in windows, and try entering this code:

 

secedit /configure /cfg %windir%infdefltbase.inf /db defltbase.sdb /verbose

 

Then run the patch install again from R*

it says I don't have permission to run that in command prompt. something about administrator

it says on the command prompt that it was completed with an error. does that matter?

Only one way to find out! Run the patch and see
