Any way to restore game back to its original?

Featured Replies

I'm having problems and can't start the game whenever lcpdfr is installed - im pretty sure it's conflicting with other mods. Whenever I go to steam and say "remove local content" it takes it off my computer. But when I download it again, it still has all the mods installed. Is there a way to just have it download the vanilla version or to have all mods removed without redownloading? Any help appreciated!

Thats why you should have backed up before adding mods.

Basically you will have to delete local content, then download it all again, but this time navigate to Program Files (X86) > Steam > SteamApps > Common > Grand Theft Auto IV, then you will see a folder called GTAIV, you can right click and then click add to GTAIV.rar to compress it, or copy and paste it and rename the folder to something like GTAIV_backup. This way if you want to go fresh again, you can just use the backup folder.

You can also have multiple of these files going at once, I have one for my main GTA, and another for testing my scripts.

You can also repair the installation with steam, which replaces any modified game files with originals. Note that it does not touch any file that was not present in the original installation, so you will have to manually remove your scripts, asi loader, etc.
