Basically I am trying to replace the ambulance siren tone with another.

 

I have tried using gtaiv-ivaud but even if i manage to change the sound, it changes to other ones in game 

 

This can be caused by just opening the ivaud and saving it 

 

Any suggestions. 

You have to first select the .wav sound file you want to replace then import the new one and make sure the new .wav file has the same name as the one you want to replace.

1.15 I think, 1.16 wont work for me at all. What confuses me is that even if I change nothing and save it it messes it up in game, the sounds are played at different frequencies or loops cut shot if you know what I mean 

Well if you're trying to replace the ambulance siren tone than the sound file cannot be anymore than 1-2 seconds. You also have to make sure you are saving it at the proper frequency of 44100Hz. Lastly make sure it is in the correct format of '16-bit PCM mono.'

As for the software, I use Audacity to edit, save it in Goldwave so GTA reads it, and import it using GTA-IVaud. I have version 1.1.5. Try updating: http://www.gta4-mods.com/tools/gta-ivaud-v115-f3996

 

If you still cannot get it to work I'd be more than happy to look at the files and try for myself.
