Car has 4 paint job textures, I only want one?

Featured Replies

Here is the problem.

A police car I'm using has 4 textures (paint_job_1, paint_job_2, paint_job_3 and paint_job_4)

paint_job_1 = 960x960 px

paint_job_2 = 960x960 px

paint_job_3 = 2048x2048 px

paint_job_4 = 2048x2048 px

So when the car spawns, it randomly has one of these paint jobs.

The skin I've made is what I'd call 'HD', (2048x2048) but obviously two of the texture files are 960x960, so the skin gets squashed up and blurred.

So lets say 4 of this car spawn. 2 will look OK and 2 will look all blurry because the skin is squashed up.

Can I create a new WTD file with only ONE paintjob?

Can I remove the 960x960 textures?

In SparkIV I have no options, do I need the unlocked model to change any of these things?

The photo shows the problem. I'm putting the same skin in (2048x2048) but it re-sizes to 960x960.

EDIT - SOLUTION:

Install Open IV.

1: Launch OpenIV

2: Select Grand Theft Auto IV

3: Navigate to Models/CDimages/Vehicles.img

4: Click "Edit Mode" then click "Yes" to the pop up box

5: Find the vehicles .wtd file (Ex: police1.wtd)

6: Find the texture files you want to replace (Ex: Paint_Job_1)

7: Select them then click "Replace"

8: Find the new texture and import it, check to see if the resoltion has changed

9: Click "Save" and then close OpenIV

10: Play GTA IV

The new texture files should now be in HQ 2048px resolution.

The problem will be the UVW Mapping of the model. The car is most likely mapped with the small texture that is  960x960, so when you add a texture that is bigger you will need to remap the texture to fit the model.

This must be done in Zmodeler or with GIMS in 3D Studio Max. Only Unlocked vehicles can be edited this way :(

You can remove the other textures, and remove the +liveries in vehicles.ide for the vehicle you want to only have one texture. But still, if you are making a HD texture, you will need to edit the texture mapping.

Just lemme know if you need some help with it :)

You can replace the texture files using OpenIV, replacing the textures will re-size the original texture to the new one.

1: Launch OpenIV

2: Select Grand Theft Auto IV

3: Navigate to Models/CDimages/Vehicles.img

4: Click "Edit Mode" then click "Yes" to the pop up box

5: Find the vehicles .wtd file (Ex: police1.wtd)

6: Find the texture files you want to replace (Ex: Paint_Job_1)

7: Select them then click "Replace"

8: Find the new texture and import it, check to see if the resoltion has changed

9: Click "Save" and then close OpenIV

10: Play GTA IV

The new texture files should now be in HQ 2048px resolution.

Hope this helps!  :thumbsup:

This worked perfectly.

I didn't have OpenIV installed but I can see how powerful it will be in future :D

Thanks.
