Hey guys,

Have you ever heard of the Thunderbirds? Maybe you've seen one of their shows. If you have you must agree that they are pretty awesome. For those of you who don't know who the thunderbirds are they are an F-16 jet formation team. They pull awesome stunts, fly in close formation, and wow the crowd. Well, this year, they are in trouble. the sequester cuts have dented the military's budget causing them to possible not be able to perform. At the moment they have called off all shows, but they may be able to find the money the be able to return which is what I am hoping. My point is, if you want to save these guys from possibly being grounded all 2013 there is a petition. The petition does not have many signatures at the time, but I am spreading the word, as well as others, across the internet. You don't have to sign it, but if you care go for it. Here is the link: https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/support-funding-united-states-air-force-thunderbirds-and-all-other-airshow-support-2013-and-beyond/Scqxv4CV

And if you don't have any clue what the thunderbirds are here is a video: (SKIP TO 1:10 to skip radio traffic if you get bored of them talking)

Hey you are talking about the show at the Mt.Comfort airport now the Regional Airport right? My profile pic is me from the last airshow, I'm one of the Korean War re-enactors. It is really sad that we won't have a show this year. I was looking forward to getting in uniform again.

Yea, that's the one! I was really devastated when I heard about the cancellation. Instead, we are going to the Dayton Air Show. They will still have it even if the Thunderbirds cant make it. Hopefully they will be financially stable and continue their scheduled season! I am really hoping that they can make it!

It is certainly sad that it had to come to this but yeah. Dayton is a good place to host things, my family and I took our 1952 Willys and jeep trailer to the national convention. I think you're going to enjoy that place. Sad to say I won't be joining you, I'll probably be tied up elsewhere; but you have fun!

^ My dad had a Willys, but for working in a mine.

I've never been in an Air Show, or I don't remember so, but now some years ago I was in an exhibition at the Spanish Armed Forces Day where they simulated the air and land deployment to take the control of an hostile beach or something. They used, apart of the choppers (Chinook, Sea King, and I guess some other), Harrier and F18, which flew pretty close to the ground; it was amazing :D   I think at the end of the exercise (or it was another day, I am not sure) the stunt squad of the air force, called Patrulla Águila (Eagle Patrol) did some stunts with their C-101.

I had pictures and record of the show, but I don't know where did I save it :/

Also, sorry to hear about the annulment of their shows, though I'd prefer them to stay in the ground for a year than be fired.

That's cool! I would consider that an Airshow. I didn't know Spain had harriers....

I am not sure but I think the most type of fighters the army have are Harries and Eurofighers. They have a bunch of F18 too.

Are you talking about the Spanish Army or all Armies in general? The U.S uses F/A-18's,F-22's,F-35's,A-10's, and I'm not sure if they use F-16's anymore.

Spanish Army, I am not very familiar with it, but I know these for sure fighters. I really liked the F-14 of the US Armed Forces used, though they neither are in service anymore

Yeah F-16s are flown by the Navy Aviation Wing. Speaking of cool out of service aircraft Phantom II. Most European airforces fly Harriers, Eurofighter and surplus US Material.

The F-14 was a great plane. I've never seen it in person, but I want to. Sadly, I think the U.S sold some F-14's to other countries just to be beaten up and not taken care of.

Canada would be one of those countries, and actually many arab countries bought F-14s.

Iran has a bunch of these, acquired during the Shah regency back in the 70s.

Damn,sorry to hear that.

Theres a an airbase near me and they have done airshows with planes from the US,France,Germany & all over the world for a long time with around 35,000-45,000 poeple attending every year but sadly the RAF hasnt got they funds and its closing soon with this year,it will be a sad time for me because since a young age I have went and it was great seeing the

The Army is moving in to use it as a base but with me being pesamitic I doubt they will do anything of the sort.

We never got the F14's as we had no capacity to use them (i.e. no carriers). Instead we got the CF-18 Hornet which is soon to be phased out by a domestically developed and built aircraft for the first time since the ill-fated Avero Arrow!

I guess you know how the disappointment feels. Luckily for the Thunderbirds, Blue Angels, Ect. this will only be a on time thing. I am just hoping both the airbase near you, and the Thunderbirds, ect. can find the funds to perform. Here, the cancellation of jet formation teams is still pending. It really isn't clear since many of the shows are later on in the summer.
