OpenIV ASI Loader crashes my game

Featured Replies

I've been having a problem since the last GTA V update where I can play LSPDFR perfectly fine, but as soon as I add the OpenIV ASI loader (dinput8.dll), the game crashes. I can load into the title screen, and it crashes when I click on single player with Rage Plugin Hook. RPH says the game crashed "Due to a bug in the game itself, RPH, in a plugin, or some outside issue like bad anti virus or graphics driver."

I've uninstalled and reinstalled everything countless times, but the ASI Loader still crashes the game. Thanks in advance!

Do you have ScripthookV installed?

Sorry for being late, but I do not have ScripthookV installed currently. Although I don't think that is the problem because I had Scripthook installed earlier and the game worked fine without the ASI loader. It also works fine without ScripthookV and the ASI loader.

Unfortunately, if you have a /mods folder, after a title update, your game will not work. This is due to a conflict with your update.rpf, so if you have an update.rpf in your mods folder, you will have to delete it and readd all your mods in that rpf again. just the way rockstar programmed it.

I did re-install my update.rpf. I also re-installed my mods folder, LSPDFR, and the entire game with the mods.

You were right, the update.rpf seems to be the problem. I just removed it from the mods folder and it loaded fine. To fix it, did you mean just re-install all of the mods in update.rpf?

uninstall scripthookv for the time being as it is outdated.

Dinput8.dll will load scripthookV automatically, and scriphookv will crash your game.

Does this mean to uninstall dinput8.dll, as it comes in the zip for scripthook V? Meaning I cant use any mods except for LSPDFR, or is dinput8.dll fine to use?

Any mods requiring scripthookV you cannot use as it will crash, all others should be fine. just delete scripthookv and you can keep dinput.

LSPDFR.com should tell you when scripthookv is updated. come here every day or so.

And yes i did mean to reinstall all the mods in update.rpf, for some reason rockstar programmed it in a way that it breaks every update.

I just tested this, and it worked! I just made a new update.rpf, and for clarification I can install mods into update.rpf as long as they don't need ScripthookV?

Yes.

Your kidding right?

After all the past updates i never had to delete update.rpf in mods folder and reinstall every mod i used.

What has changed since you need to do this now?

This has always been the case. After a title update, users need to drag over their update.rpf from Update to mods/Update. Prior to doing that, they should ensure backups of any modified sections of the update.rpf are made to stuff they don't want to lose.

The reason for this is that the mods folder would be running off an update.rpf from a previous GTA V version while running the current version, which causes problems.

Either way, the problem has been resolved for the original poster and we can all move on. If you have a problem with someone in the future, please take it up with them in PM or report the post if it violates our sites Guidelines.
