Rage error when going on duty

Featured Replies

Evening all, I was editing some xmls and I'm not positive, but I think this means there's an error in one of my files. I'm fairly sure it's either UB defaultregions or customregions, however when I go to the line number provided, the word containing the error isn't even in that line. Maybe I'm misunderstanding this here, but I'm not quite sure how to troubleshoot further. These xmls are heavily modified for custom vehicles and eup, I'd like to find the issue within the file rather than just replacing the file with the original and starting over.

You are on the right track. Make sure you're getting the correct information regarding where the error is located:

"The 'vehicle' start tag on line 2462 position 7 does not match the end tag of 'vehicle' . Line 2462, position 36."

You probably forgot to add something like < >, or " ", in the vehicle section, to end that section properly, according to XML logic.

Takeaway: next time after editing an XML file, copy and paste the entire text into this TOOL, it will show you whether or not the modified XML file is valid. This will save you from game crashes.

Yep, finding those lines where the error occurred is the first thing I did. And I guarantee you it's this ><, because I was editing the vehicles used for backup, etc. Here's where I fall off. In any of the xml's I was working on (defaultregions, customregions and specialunits in UB), when I find line 2462 pos 7, it isn't a vehicle line. Now. Could this be because I'm editing with notepad? Maybe notepad doesn't count lines and positions the same? Sincerely appreciate the help!

No that doesn't matter.

Use the tool I provided above, copy and paste the .XML you've edited, and it will validate the file for you.
