Now, evidently, most people don't care about this corner of the forum and as I can see from the other threads, this would probably also go unanswered but hey, I tried.

 

I've tried searching the depths of google but as of late 2023, it seems to be one of the best kept secrets of GTA V modding communities since there's virtually no data available on this anywhere- how does the ELS-hybrid system work? I had the misfortune of coming across one such car and I assumed that meant that it has both ELS and non-ELS versions inside. Much to my horror, that's not the case. Thanks to an entirely different ELS-hybrid pack I found while googling, it explained it's a combo of ELS and non-ELS but there's literally no guide on what to do, how to install it or activate it anywhere. I just get some random bleak vanilla siren lights when I press "J" in my ELS UI even after copy-pasting the associated vcf file. Anyone know the secret sauce?

An ELS-hybrid is an ELS car that also uses non-els lights.

That means you need the VCF XML, and proper carvariations.meta & carcols.meta.

Make sure the VCF XML is in the correct folder (usually GTA5/ELS/pack_default) and that the metas are installed correctly.

Ah okay, thanks. That seems like a lot of work just to install a singular vehicle. I already have SSLA because I used to use DLS, before I figured out that it's basically dead. So I switched to ELS. But this ELS hybrid thing is new to me. The vehicle I have is in a DLC but that means the data is carcols and carvariations data is embedded in those files and it's not as easy to figure out as is vehicle.meta's; there's no telling where one section begins and the other ends. Everything is just a huge snippet of code.
