Internet connection sharing Error.

Featured Replies

I want to connect my xbox360 to the internet using ICS. When i go to click on my wifi on my PC and enable internet sharing, i get the following error:
An error occurred while internet sharing was being enabled.

The dependency or service failed to start.

Any ideas how to fix this.

Note: I am using a guest WiFi from a local store next to my house. I am using Windows 7. And I am using an Ethernet cable to do the Internet sharing withmy xbox.

open up services.msc via the run command, and look at the service indicated in the message. Change it's properties to start automatically then restart your PC.

I did what you said but i still receive the error, i reopend "Services.mcs" and look at "Internet connection (ICS)" and it turned it's self back to manual when i set it to automatic.

Are you an admin? Right click the service, and select start. This will start it manually but you'll need to do it every time you restart your pc.

Yes i am an admin. When i went to start the service from "Services.msc" I got the same error.

After you launching services.msc, double-click on the ICS service and click the Dependencies tab, you will see the dependencies of the service. Enable all of these and put them on auto if possible.

I did turn everything on and put them to automatic. I am still receving the error. I would just like to thank you for trying to help me. However i'm giving up.
