Hi all,

          Apoligies if this has been asked before but I'm completely lost. I wanted to install a non ELS vehicle in the current POLICE slot but am having no luck. Where do I find the meta.s, carvariations, handling metas to overwrite with the new vehicle. I'm absolutely lost and have no idea so if anyone can help me so I can get it working it'd be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Really appreciate the help mate, I’ll definitely give this a try, I’m so used to just replacing vehicles without having to edit anything! Thanks again I’ll update you if I achieve success!!

Do I have to rename the vehicle police if it’s got another name & also do I have to rename it in the car variation metas? It’s still not showing the extras when it comes up

If you are replacing it, just rename the mod model to the one you're replacing. 

 

Otherwise you can install it as add-on, you'll need to install a base folder and copy/paste every necessary meta files.

Tried everything, It just kept on crashing, im absolutely clueless 

If there was a tool for easy installation that'd probably work for me!

Can anyone just put the process in point form for me if possible to just replace one of the default police slots starting with, the folder location of the car & the name of it, the location of the carvariations , carcols for the default police vehicle & anything else I should do, I’ve tried Albo’s tools for doing it & it kept crashing, apologies to all who’ve assisted me so far but I guess I’m just really hopeless at this & virtually need to be guided step by step, anyway if anyone can help me it’d be greatly appreciated 

I do apologize for abandoning your topic. The location for the files is provided in my previous reply. Have you tried another vehicle model from another author? Does the game work when you remove the model? Have you modified anything when you installed the model for any reason, like vehicles.meta?

This should give you some guideness and while watching them you should see more on the side from youtube with suggestions for more videos if it is needed.

Absolutely nil success, tried everything & unfortunately nothing worked, I don’t get how or why 

I’d appreciate anyone out there who could do it for me, happy to share my vehicle I paid for 👍🏽

One last question before I throw it all out the window, Albos dlc tool has no info on where to place the carcols for the vehicle you are trying to install, where do the carcols go

Thanks very much for the replies and help, I replaced the stock police vehicle from x64.e and it appeared in game, unfortunately I can't get the lighting to work as it should or the extras like antennas and stuff, am I doing anything wrong by replacing the police from x64.e??? 

It can't confirm that there would be an issue installing it there, but it is never recommended by anyone. I would strongly suggest modifying and installing your vehicles to your latest patch day in mods/update/x64/dlcpacks/patchday2023_01/dlc.rpf/x64/levels/gta5/vehicles.rpf

For non-els vehicle, the lighting is controlled by "carcols." If you're replacing it in x64e, you need to edit or replace "carcols" in mods/update/update.rpf/x64/data with the one included in the vehicle pack.
