RPH Stuck on `Launching Game` even when the game is already Running

Featured Replies

Hey, hopefully, you are reading this soon.

When I launch my GTAV and then RPH

RPH doesn't hook the running instance but launches the game one more time.

If I'll run RPH first the game doesn't run at all.

RPH thinks that I have a Steam Copy of the game but I have an Epic one.

Please help me... I couldn't find any other people with the problems I have or any solution.

By the way, I don't have a mods folder and I also don't know how to do that,

so if possible, please help me with that too.

Thanks,

  • Hey, here is a screenshot of RPH To be honest, I just need RPH to hook up an existing instance instead of launching the game again. 😅

  • Here a screenshot of it. Yeah, I meant that... I'm just lazy so I didn't write the full path. sorry for the confusion

  • Please remove the "run as admin" property from the GTA5.exe. Actually, this can be one reason why RPH is not able to hook to the game instance. And then please launch GTA V through Epic Games Lau

Could you please open the RPH settings (hold SHIFT after launching it or click the silver cog settings icon) and send a screenshot of the entire window? I'd like to see the versions you're using.

Also, where did you install RPH? Please send a screenshot of the folder where I can see the RPH files and the path to the folder (basically the address bar of File Explorer).

That's still your issue, right? Not the solution you just figured out?

What about the screenshot of the folder where you installed RPH?

Okay, do the following please:

Press the keys Windows key + R, then type "regedit" and press enter.

Within regedit follow this path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Rockstar Games -> Grand Theft Auto V

Now make a double click on "InstallFolderEpic" on the right side.

Send a screenshot of what it says.

(Be careful to not make any changes in regedit, only view things)

If you can't find the "InstallFolderEpic" in the path above, use the following alternative:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Wow6432Node -> Rockstar Games -> Grand Theft Auto V

Yes, I edited my message and added an alternative path. Please try to follow this instead.

Seems like I do not have a `Rockstar Games` key on my HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.

Additionally, you're not supposed to have the Rockstar Games key under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. It should be in SOFTWARE or Wow6432Node instead.

Here a screenshot of it.

Alright, looks good. I wanted to make sure that you installed RPH in the GTA V folder that is being recognized by the game launcher. Which seems to be the case.

The weird files in your main GTA V folder are still suspicious to me though. You should try if it works after removing them (only as a temporary troubleshooting step):

  • launc.dll
  • orig_socialclub.dll
  • socialclub.dll
  • (unins000.dat)
  • (unis000.exe)
  • Author

all of these files except unis000.exe, and orig_socialclub.dll came with the language changer..

(I made the orig_socialclub.dll because I saw that it wants to replace it with another one)

I'll still try to remove them

But none of these files are part of a clean Epic Games GTA V installation directory (or if there's LSPDFR and LML installed). I just checked this.

Here's what a clean Epic Games GTA V installation looks like (the file list in the middle): uybUwEz.jpg

Please try if RPH and GTA V work together after removing these files. You could re-add them later if it didn't help.

GTA5.exe as an Administrator

Please remove the "run as admin" property from the GTA5.exe. Actually, this can be one reason why RPH is not able to hook to the game instance.

And then please launch GTA V through Epic Games Launcher instead. Don't launch the .exe manually.
Once story mode was loaded, tab out (ALT+TAB) and launch RPH while GTA is running in the background.
