Help In Creating First Mod

Featured Replies

Spoiler

Hello Everyone,

First of all, I wish the creators of LSPDFR for creating this mod. It is because of it that I purchased Grand Theft Auto 5. I WOULD NOT have bothered if there was no option to play as a Law Enforcement Officer: the customization features and ability to enforce the law as you see fit look fantastic.

As I purchased the game a few days ago, I am a newcomer and have questions. I have modded before on other games, but much of it is highly technical and challenging to learn. Therefore, I am asking to be shown how.

First, how far must you play into the game to use LSPDFR? Please include ALL details. I have noticed that when you try to leave on a mission, it will automatically say failed from leaving someone behind or losing track of them. Can I initiate the mod during the prologue, and if so, how, please? I sincerely wish to play this mod.

Second, is there a method that you can use to create a vehicle of your own for LSPDFR? The game provides the standard police cars, SUVs, and trucks; however, I want to include the Paramount Marauder, as shown in the image below. Further, how would I customize it to look like a Police Vehicle?

Third, how do I create unique items? For example, I want to add a specific Cowboy Hat and plain Western Clothes Outfit to the game along with the vehicle. Where do I find the tools and templates to do that, and what websites, if any, do I use to create items?

Fourth, do you have any advice on how to drive? Doing it with just a PC keyboard is challenging, and I CANNOT add an external controller.

Finally, can I keep my uploads private so I can ONLY use them in my playthroughs? If so, how do I do that, please? I want to begin with just myself at first.

I apologize if I placed this topic in the incorrect forum. I found it challenging to select the proper one. Please provide me with as many specific step-by-step instructions as you can. Thank you all in advance.

You need to get past the prologue, but once the game opens up to free roam you can start using the mod. You can also find a 100% save online instead.

If a controller is not an option then you can just keep playing the game and you will probably get used to using the keyboard to drive. It might be wise to play some of the default game to learn the mechanics if you have never played GTA V on PC before.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by this - you don't have to upload anything to use mods in the game.

As for the stuff regarding creating vehicles and hats, that is beyond my expertise but I can say it is more complicated than just downloading a random model from sketchfab and putting it in the game. If you don't have any expertise in creating models it would be best to find something similar to what you are looking for either on this site or another GTA V modding site or perhaps request a developer to make it for you (although finding someone to do it for free may be a challenge). If you're intent on learning, there may be some tutorials out there you can follow or maybe someone with more knowledge here can lend you a hand.

I moved this to GTA V Modding Discussion since it isn't really a support request but more seeking information.

Thank you for your reply. Dang, I was hoping I could dive straight into LSPDFR. Can you tell me when is the earliest point to enter free roam so I can start using it?

As mentioned, in my original post, I do have some experience with modding from other games, but it has been many years. Further, I want to know where to create my own models such as what websites to use. You mentioned tutorials, any suggestions on where I go to find them?

I definitely am intent on learning as I not only want to use this mod but amend it, so it fits my particular style. I would be proud to speak with a developer via post. Would it be possible for you to direct me to one? Thank you very much in advance.

Additionally, I just thought on what you stated about asking a developer for help and I have an idea how to do that. I plan to attempt to ask other users, via a message post, who created mods similar to what I desire for help in creating my own. Perhaps if they created something similar, they would be willing to teach me how to do it. However, please be advised, if you have any advice at all, I would be thrilled to hear it. Thank you very much in advance.

Hello Will,

I found a mod that, when installed, marks EVERY task in the game as completed to the Gold Standard. That allows me to go straight into Free Roam. Now I CAN start playing LSPDFR from the beginning and still be able to play the actual game when I want by simply uninstalling the mod.

I do have a few new questions. When I sign out of LSPDFR so the night I will always save my game. However, when I reload it later, ALL my settings are gone. My character, their features, Police Vehicle; EVERYTHING is gone. I HAVE to start over from the very beginning EVERY time. How do I get my saved game to hold so I can simply pick up where I left off. Do I need to turn cloud service saves back on? If so, how do I do that please?

Also, I found a mod for a Cowboy Hat that I really wish to try. The user who created it (I grant them full credit for the mod) has not responded to my messages, so I am asking for help elsewhere. I have followed tutorial videos on installing EUP Files but cannot get the mod to work. It says I need to move the files to a specific folder, Eup-Stream, that does not seem to exist. Can you perhaps help me get this mod working, such as where to find or create this folder? I have attached its readme file below. Thank you very much in advance.
