Im very new to this.  I have downloaded some mods and it seems like it does not matter what mods i use i can only get the tail lights to flash.  I see all these videos that they have every light flashing.  Obviously im missing something.  Can someone help me out.

This sounds a lot like you are have window tint on your vehicle, or tinted lightbars. Depending on the vehicle slot you are using (police, police3, fbi) you will need to search for different options, they are all found in the same location and in the same file. For the purpose of me helping you, I will be using fbi as an example. 

 

1. Assuming you already have a mods folder, which is always recommended, find vehicles.meta in the following pathway: mods\update\update.rpf\common\data\levels\gta5
2. Search for the vehicle slot using Control F or F3.
   • A list of all the available slots are found below in a marked spoiler. You may need to retrace your steps to where you downloaded the vehicle mod into to find the correct slot, though the spoiler container is a hit/miss resort.
3. Once you find the correct option, scroll until you find diffuseTint value =
4. Change the value (that of whatever is in the quotation marks) to the value of 0x00FFFFFF 
5. Ensure to save.

Another solution is to simply remove the tint in a trainer. Though this is temporary and will need to be done every time you wish to spawn the vehicle. 

 

If you still have issues, please reply with the link to the vehicle mod you are trying to use and I will likely be able to direct you to the correct slot.

I could not find any of that. So I deleted all the mods and tried that way and everything worked perfect.  So I deleted everything and going to start from scratch. So the things I have downloaded so far besides the game.

This is the mod I'm trying to use. I have not redownload yet. So if you could tell me any other files to get mods working that would be great. 

 

 

 

 

When installing that pack, install the vehicles.meta file into the same pathway as previously stated (found in the data folder of the download). Follow the install instructions for other files in the installation.pdf provided in the download. 

 

Pathway for meta file: mods\update\update.rpf\common\data\levels\gta5

 

 

Also ensure you have ScripthookV installed to the newest version when you reinstall ELS itself.

I am not quite sure the difference between LML and downloading it manually. Though if it makes it easier for you to install, then you are welcomed to go for it. Though just make sure the files are going in the correct locations. Your vehicles should always go in your latest patchday (within dlcpacks).

 

OpenIV is a definite requirement for any vehicle installs. You will not be able to find the correct pathway for the vehicle files without OpenIV.

 

Gameconfig is optional depending on what you are installing, though it is really only recommended/required for addon vehicles, props, or more/less traffic. All it does is increase the memory limits of your game to allow such things.

 

Though again, ELS only requires an updated ScriptHookV, in which then you should have an updated LSPDFR and RageNative.

well im not sure. lml makes it alot easier to install with just a few clicks.  I just dont understand because the cars get loaded, just no lights only flashing tail lights

Attempt to remove the Window Tint using the temporary measure. I recommend installing SimpleTrainer and removing the window tint that way. Again this is only a temporary measure as you exclaim you cannot find the permanent method I earlier mentioned. You could use another menu use, though I cannot confidently tell you how to navigate that menu to remove the tint.

 

With simple trainer installed;

1. Navigate to Vehicle Options -> Vehicle Mods -> Window Tint. 
   • Navigate the menu up/down with the number pad 8 and 2 keys.
   • Use the number pad 4 and 6 key to navigate the Window Tint Option (Ensure you have the numlock key on)
2. When you find the window tint option, cycle through the window tint using the buttons stated in the previous step. This should not be whatever the current tint is. 

If this fixes your lights and you would like to permanently fix it without needing to change this setting everytime you open the game, refer to the previous method. If you have difficulty finding something, please let me know what it is you cannot find.

I'm on. Laptop so I don't have the num pad. 

So you are going to need to take an extra step here then. In your main directory, where you installed SimpleTrainer, you will find a file called TrainerV, this is a configuration file you will be opening and modifying. 

 

Scroll down ever so slightly to where you find "keybindings". You will be changing the numbers to a select coordinated key. You can find the key codes here. You can change these to whatever you would like them to be. 

 

Keep in mind you can also use another trainer, such as Menyoo, which does not require a numpad, though I cannot confidently tell you where to modify your vehicles window tint through other mod menus. If you ask me, this is much easier then changing your keys as you have said you have less keys, though with Menyoo you will need to change your menu opening key, assuming you do not have an F8 (and the such) keys.

 

 

This great stuff that you helped me out with.  I really do appreciate it, but unfortunately I cant seem to get the lights to work.  There is no tint on the windows and besides the light bar on the top does not flash.  I think im going to give up because I dont want to waste anymore of your time.  Maybe this mod is not compatible with the new update, I have no idea.   As far as LML goes I use it so it automatically installs the files where they need to be.  Seriously though I do really appreciate it.

I am sorry to hear that. You are not wasting my time though! I would maybe double check and ensure the ELS files are going in the right place as you say you are doing it automatically with LML, though usually if they were installed incorrectly the lights would appear static. Give another mod a try and see if it gives you the same issue. Though if you truly do not wish to try, that is completely understandable!

 

Though if you do try another vehicle mod and the same thing occurs, try repeating those steps. Also ensure everything is installed in the correct location. I am not necessarily saying LML is unreliable, though sometimes things do get misplaced.

Will if lml wasn't working wouldn't that mean I would not have the mod cars?

I am not saying it is not working, not in that manner atleast. I am saying sometimes things can be misplaced when doing it automatically. You have cars that you can see in game, though either you have tinted windows, the ELS is in the incorrect location, or it is a bad XML (ELS file). 

 

I should mention ELS is multi-stage (3), so you may need to hit the J key more than once to actually see lights flash. If you installed it in the incorrect location, it is likely that either some, or all, would remain on at a static and keybindings would not work. 

 

Hitting ALT J would immediately bring you to stage 3 lighting.

Could have two roots.
1. Asiloader got corrupted. To fix this, delete asilaoder from OpenIV or your gamefolder (dinput8.dll) and then restart your PC. Once done, reinstall it from OpenIV and retry.
2. Second issue could be window tint. Make sure that it's set to "white" in the vehicles.meta, not only the Trainer.

Yes hitting the j worked. I can't believe that was the only issue. 

Now I'm looking for a mod that I see people use to catch speeders. I'm trying to find that and figure it out
