RPH Crashes at Validating Hook

Featured Replies

Hello, I'm having similar issues as I've seen others post with RPH crashing today.  Oddly I was able to successfully play LSPDFR earlier today, then went back to play again and it's not working.

At the same time, my Windows Defender started warning me about security concerns:

Trojan:Win32/Phonzy.A!ml C:\Users\####\AppData\Local\Temp\h1mlnumnlnl21mfl\wypzo1kw\gvdgin5q\1a1ih1tfk55aifwy.wtf

Worm:Win32/Gamarue!ml C:\Users\####\AppData\Local\Temp\3rs0545o5mdvjpee\0yva5y1t\yrwt4mlz\2zwrl3b4t0pb3tac.wtf

They were propagating rapidly but I was able to get them quarantined and manually deleted (I have 23 entries in Windows Defender for these two items)

Is it possible that these are temp files created by RPH that are being incorrectly flagged as viruses?  Even if they are, shouldn't RPH just create new ones when it runs?  I have my Grand Theft Auto 5 folder and the RPH.exe file excluded from antivirus.

I reinstalled RPH, LSPDFR and the issue persists.  I've attached my logfile.

Thanks for any help!

After posting this I reset my computer and tried to run RPH again.  When I did Windows Defender flagged the same Trojan and Worm as I posted above.  I allowed the "threat" to remain on the computer and RPH loaded and now works fine.  So it really does look like something was updated in Windows Defender today that is taking exception with RPH created temp files.

Hey man, I actually have this problem but restarting my computer isn't helping. Windows Defender says "Trojan:Script/Wacatac.B!ml" but it disappears after a few seconds.

I'll try again tomorrow, otherwise I keep you and others informed.

Thanks for any help!

Don't add %temp% to your Antivirus exceptions! It can be a security risk.

Just add your GTAV-folder to Antivirus exceptions, and allow it on your Device if it pops up.

Disable Defender before starting RPH, then enable it after it successfully hooked the game.

Thanks buddy 🙂 That worked for me!
