Consistent random crashing - with or without mod

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I am having consistent, random crashes on a brand new install of LSPDFR 0.4.8. I have tried with mods, I have tried without mods it doesn't seem to make a difference.

My log is attached.

I have tried the following to resolve the issue, but they haven't changed the randomness of crashes and hasn't done anything to make the frequency more consistent:

  • loading story mode without rage plugin (no crashes whatsoever)
  • playing without mods
  • trying the mods one at a time that I wish to play with
  • reinstalling lspdfr and updating rage to the newest version
  • turning off my antivirus (avast) and malwarebytes anti-malware
  • Setting the plugin timeout to 60000 (currently set at that)
  • Turning off ambient events/spawns, see attached lspdfr.txt (renamed from .ini to allow upload)
  • Clearing commandline.txt

I have had sporadic periods of maybe half an hour without issue, but then the game crashes, with some of the following triggering a crash but it is random and doesn't always happen:

  • Getting into a police car
  • Starting to cuff a pedestrian
  • Starting my siren
  • Spawning or being anywhere near the mission row police station

Has anyone seen such issues before? I have used LSPDFR 0.3 and didn't experience any of this, same computer, same steam account.

Thank you for all the work you have put into this exciting mod and for any advice you can give me.

Cheers!

When you say without mods, are you referring to without car mods as well?  Crazy as this might sound, some vehicles have multiple liveries and if for some odd reason some of those vehicles spawn with a certain kind of livery, it could cause crashing issues.  If you have a mods folder, rename to something like  mods-copy  try the game awhile, you can leave your other plugins in the game to check for stability.  Play awhile and see if you are getting issues at that point.

Hey OfficerBenzo,

Thanks for taking the time to reply 🙂 I am playing on a clean install, the only mod I have is LSPDFR, so no vehicle mods, no scripts that would work with scripthookv, etc.

When I was getting a car from the garage I was equipping it with all the vehicle improvement mods, like turbo, armor, brakes, etc. But when I was having issues I stopped doing that and started grabbing different cars and ensuring I wasn't putting mods on them and unfortunately it didn't make a difference.

The liveries could be the issue, but I am not putting them on myself; is there some kind of control test I can do when I can have a cop car with no liveries and also prevent ambient cop cars spawning?
