[FIXED] Rage plugin hook not hooking GTA V - Solution in description

Featured Replies

Hello all, I am trying to get LSPDFR to work but unfortunately not succeeding in doing so. I get the well known "Insufficient permissions" error from the rage plugin hook when I try to start GTA V. I am running an updated Windows 10 PC with 32GB of memory and an i7 9700. I've also successfully played GTA V + LSPDFR 0.4.4 end of previous year.

What I have tried (I have attempted the options below in most possible combinations with each other):

  • Running RPH with admin privileges;
  • Reinstalling GTA V and only applying the RPH plugin
  • Starting GTA V then trying to run the RPH
  • Reinstalling the RPH requirements
  • Updating windows
  • Disabling Kaspersky
  • Excluding RPH in kaspersky
  • Completely removing kaspersky

I don't have any other security software installed and no tuning/maintenance software. My Windows installation is a self installed without bloatware. I also start a minimal amount of programs at the start of windows. I went to the RPH discord and did everything the moderator asked me to do so his conclusion is that it's a user error, which I don't believe since I haven't made any changes to my anti virus or permissions within GTA since it worked. I have only updated GTA V & the RPH. I would have liked to tried running the GTA V with an older version of the RPH but I was not able to download 1.73/1.72 any more.

I am out of options and don't know what else I can check / do to try and get it to work. Any ideas/suggestions are welcome!

Thanks!

Update:

As I already posted in the comments: there is a possibility the Geforce overlay is the issue, disabling this fixed my problems. I can also imagine (only an assumption though) other overlays might also cause issues.

Glad I could help for those who suffered from the same issue and saw this post!!

Hello,

Follow these steps below:

1. Launch RPH.

2. When the little window comes up, click the silver cog icon in the bottom left.

3. Head to the Game Settings tab in the RPH Settings Menu.

4. Press the arrow next to "Command Line Switches".

5. Scroll down to where you find a bunch of DirectX entries and screenshot that.

Thanks! 🙂

Thanks for your reply! My RPH plugin is on all its default settings, I didn't change anything apart from setting the timeout treshold to "60000". I made a screenshot from both the "Command line switches".

Somebody in the RPH community suggested to look into the geforce overlay. I switched that off and that seemed to have done the trick! It had nothing to do with AV exclusions or anything like that.

Glad you got it solved! Overlays can also be one of the reasons as well. 🙂
