Description
If you play LSPDFR with an Xbox controller, you've probably run into this: half your D-Pad and stick-click buttons are already locked to vanilla GTA functions (phone, character wheel, look-behind, horn), which means police mods like NPCI and ELS either can't bind to those inputs or end up fighting with them.
This standard.meta strips those vanilla bindings out entirely so the buttons are open for your mod loadout to use instead.
What's changed from the default standard.meta
Removed (vanilla functions unbound):
D-Pad Up — no longer opens the phone
D-Pad Down — no longer opens the character wheel
Sidenote: freeing D-Pad Down also disables the ELS Siren On/Off toggle if you had it bound there. I'm a controller player myself and honestly don't mind just tapping G on the keyboard for sirens, but wanted to flag it in case it's a dealbreaker for you.
Right Stick Click (R3) — no longer triggers look-behind (on-foot and in-vehicle)
Left Stick Click (L3) — no longer honks the horn while driving
Select / Back — no longer opens the interaction menu
Added:
Replay start/stop recording is explicitly unbound (null-bound), so nothing on the pad will accidentally trigger action-replay recording
Unchanged:
All other vanilla D-Pad, face button, trigger, and stick-click functions are untouched — this only targets the specific inputs listed above
L3's other functions (e.g. Special Ability) still work in-vehicle contexts other than the horn
Why this matters for LSPDFR
A lot of controller conflict issues with plugins like NPCI, ELS, and custom pullover/traffic-stop scripts come down to these five inputs being locked by vanilla GTA. This file resolves those conflicts at the source instead of forcing your mods to work around them — so any plugin that wants D-Pad Up, D-Pad Down, R3, L3 (vehicle context), or Select is free to claim them cleanly.
Compatibility notes
Built for Xbox controllers; button labels (LUP/LDOWN/L3/R3/SELECT) follow standard Xbox pad mapping
Safe to use alongside keyboard/mouse — this file only affects gamepad (
IOMS_PAD_DIGITALBUTTON) mappings, not keyboard bindingsIf you rely on the vanilla phone, character wheel, look-behind, or horn on these specific buttons, you'll need to rebind them elsewhere (in-game controller settings won't restore them since they're removed at the meta level, not just remapped)
