Ballistic Shield

Ballistic Shield

This feature was added in LSPDFR 0.4.2 and is unavailable in previous versions.

The Ballistic Shield is a new feature in LSPDFR 0.4.2 which allows the player to equip a protective ballistic shield.  The shield offers a degree of protection from bullets and other projectiles, although it only partially covers the body.

While using the Ballistic Shield, your character will be put into 'Action Mode' - similar to how their movement changes when they fire a weapon.  You can press  or  (by default) to change between 'Action' and 'Stealth' mode, which will vary your character's pose and movement speed accordingly. The Ballistic Shield can be equipped (and unequipped) by using the Interaction Menu, where it can be found in the Inventory section.

Agency Integration

Like the Police Badge, the Ballistic Shield is integrated with the Agency system in LSPDFR, so that each Agency can be assigned a specific type of shield.  For example, a riot police agency could use a clear plastic riot shield, whereas another agency could use a more traditional hard metal shield.

This is configurable by editing the ShieldModel element in the Agency XML.

Note that while the Ballistic Shield is equipped, certain features may be unavailable.
