Thank you aCoD. I'll start ordering all the stuff soon. SO to be sure, the Z97 is the better option over the Z87?

Final question. A friend of mine saw my parts list and recommended I get the Z97 instead of the Z87 motherboard since the CPU is Haswell refresh. Thoughts?

Thanks Yard1. Any preference between windows 7 and windows 8?

I like this setup, but when you say it isn't overclockable, is that a bad thing? Can you recommend a CPU that performs the same as this one but has OC and costs roughly the same?

Can you explain what "overclocking" is? Sorry I am a noob

I just double checked both of your build posts for me, and it seems like the Motherboards are also different. Is that a mistake, or are they the same motherboards? In one post you have ""MSI Z87-G45 Gaming ATX LGA1150 Motherboard"" In the other you have ""Asus Z97-K/CSM ATX LGA1150 Motherboard"" The price difference between the 2 motherboards is about $3.

Thanks Prodigy. And thank you for your earlier response as well.

""One thing though - don't forget that GTA IV is a very bad port, and sometimes it will crash when overmodded. No hardware can remedy that issue."" What is considered "overmodding"? Can it be quantified? Say, 5 different mods? 10?

Wow, you actually built/priced out a whole build for me, thanks a lot! 1350 seems a little bit steep for me, are there any parts on that list that I can do without, but still run LCPD:FR the way I want to? You mentioned that the card you put was the incorrect one. The link shows "ASUS Radeon R9 290X 4GB DirectCU II". Thats the right one? Again, all these parts will allow me to run LCPD:FR @ 1080p with 45-60fps and no lag/crashing issues? I jsut want to make sure before I spend that money. Thanks again for that effort you put in

Hi Yard1, thanks for the response. What I mean by "to run fine" is I would like to perhaps run the game at 1080p, 45-60fps, without any lagging or other issues. Basically, I want my game to run as smooth those popular YouTube channels. By GPU, I'm assuming you mean the graphics card? What's a good GPU that will allow me to run my game according to my expectations (1080p, 45-60 fps, no framerate or lag or other annoying issues). If the CPU and GPU are both complimentary to each other, what would you recommend for both? Again, I don't really plan on playing many PC games and I am solely building this PC for LCPD:FR so I'd like parts that will help run the game on optimal settings. Thanks.

How does this one look in terms of hardware? The price is very doable for me.

Thanks dude. I have a 360 controller as well, but mine is wireless. Does microsoft still sell the wired controllers? Forgot to add this to my reply. The microsoft website says that the controller needs the following to run: Windows 7, Windows Vista or Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (SP2), (excluding Windows XP 64-bit) Pentium 300 MHz or Higher Excluding Windows XP 64 bit? Someone here in my thread mentioned I needed 64 bit though..

So essentially, I can build a better PC on my own for the same price as paying for a pre-made PC with lesser quality parts? I don't mind building one on my own. I watched a friend of mine build one for BF4, and it seemed like the only labor involved was screwing parts into the shell, or connecting wires from one part to another. If there is more to building it than what I mentioned, I may just buy it pre-made since I don't want to f*** up any of the parts. You also mentioned the keyboard and mouse. I would like to use an Xbox controller and the keyboard instead of the mouse. Can it be done? What kind of Xbox controller (original, 360, or XB1) can I use, and does it have to be a wired controller, or can it be done wirelessly?

Thanks Boozer. If you don't mind me asking, how much did all of that cost you? To me, those parts sound like they cost $2000, which is why I gave my budget as $1200-$1500

$1200 will get me a beast of a machine? I didn't know that. What about something like $800? Obviously, if I can get a machine that works just fine for less than $1200 it will be easier to afford. Thanks for the response. I see that you have an AMD CPU, and I mean absolutely no offence by this as I am a beginner, but I read somewhere else, either on this site or on another, that the AMD isn't the best? Also, if I chose to just buy a pre-made PC, will I be able to find one with hardware similar to yours/others who are able to run the game smoothly with all the good mods (cars, dashcams, skins, etc), will I be able to find one pre-made for around the same price? Again, thank you for your response. Thank you for your response. I would prefer to buy one pre-made, but if I have to build it myself but have better parts, I wouldn't mind. Thanks again.

Hello everyone, I've always been a console gamer but after looking at various LCPDFR videos, I've decided to build a PC that can support it and have it run as smooth as the guys in the YouTube videos. To be honest, I don't know much about PC parts. I do apologize for perhaps making yet another thread on how to build a PC that will run the game and the mod flawlessly, but I don't know anything about computers or their parts. Here's what I would like to know. What parts do I need? I know I need a good graphics card and "good" RAM (not sure what constitutes "good" RAM: fast RAM? Large RAM?) So: 1) Graphics Card --> ???? 2) RAM --> ???? 3) CPU? --> ???? 4) Operating system --> Windows 7? 8? 5) Anything else I am missing? Budget-wise, nothing strct, but I don't want to spend more than $1200-$1500, if that's even necessary (again, I don't know much about PC parts or pricing). Thank you all very much for your help! :) Also, I've seen some guys use an Xbox 360 controller. I would like to do so as well. How do I do that? Do I need a wired controller, or can I do it wirelessly? How does that work? EDIT: --> I mentioned $1200 as my budget only because I blindly assumed that good PC parts are very expensive: I'm sure they still are relatively expensive, but in no way am I "looking" to spend $1200. The less I can spend, the better.
