BF3 Beta shouldn't be more than a week away, DICE is waiting for Sony and Microsoft to greenlight the beta, and they're keeping the PC release untill its on consoles aswell.

Depends on when you're going to buy it. Windows 8 isn't due for release for a year or something.

The development preview doesn't need to be activated .. Still trying to get it to work with VMWare, but from the plans I've heard Microsoft have for it, I'm probably going to stick with W7. They're trying to make it look more like Mac, with an App Store etc. and a more closed environment. Or actually, I think they're making it look like their W7 Phones, and do not want. And yes, you can disable the "tab" part of the OS, but a PC should never run the same OS as a goddamn tablet, imo. And its going to be harder to develop applications, since people is going to expect everything to be spoonfed to them. BTW; Does anyone know where to enable ACPI in VMWare 8?

Personally, I didn't like it - sticking to BFBC2 until the BF3 beta comes.

EFLC is runnable without Steam C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\grand theft auto iv episodes from liberty city\EFLC and run LaunchEFLC.exe as admin.

Won't help, he already has read/write access. Just don't enter anything, crime statistics are a 0.95 feature only.

Please add an spoiler to that, or a pastebin link. And yes, ELS & modded cars is the cause. If you're using ELSv6, I'm certain. For less crashes, please use ELSv5 and mod a couple of cars that doesn't spawn alot.

I'm almost certain that els & modded cars are the cause of your crashes.

My guess would be ELS or modded cars.

ELS and/or high poly cars. Try using ELSv5 if you are absolutely determined to use ELS, only difference is holo lights.

Wait for 0.95 (you can allow/disallow lethal force, and it does work most of the time in the beta, but remember, no support for the beta)

Its a known bug.

Water hoses

As long as you're not on duty, you shouldn't experience any problems with saving.

Theres lua libraries which doesn't get overwritten/deleted, shouldn't do much, but I would still recommend cleaning up before hand.
