As Iconography already explained in those topics,
We currently have server problems, the authentication server doesn't work. Just skip the linking phase in the installer to make it work.
I hope this answers the questions of people with linking problems and that this prevents new topics about this problem being made

DO NOT say the fix did not work for you because you use windows 7 or vista, the video was made on a windows 7 computer and runs GTA flawlessly until i screw it up

Cannont create file 'C:\Program files (x86)\Rockstar Games\Grand theft
Auto IV\asilog.txt'. Access is Denied.
OR

Step 1: Right click your GTAIV shortcut, OR LAUNCHGTAIV.EXE in your gta folder
Step 2: click run as administrator
Step 3: ????
Step 4: PROFIT
ALTERNATE AND RECOMMENDED WAY, PERMANENTLY AVOID THE ERROR AND that pesky UAC that always asks "are you sure you want to put this file here? I can't allow it unless you say so"
