Hello all!
Please bare with me, I've probably typed way too much and could've sent it in a better, more compact way, but I just like explaining myself.
I have a load of questions regarding PCs, GTA V and LSPDFR that I have no idea about and was hoping some of you people out there could help me. First of all, can I just say I am an absolute idiot when it comes to PC gaming and all that comes with it so please excuse me if any of my questions are stupid and if I'm asking these in the wrong place. I appreciate any help whatsoever! Don't worry, I'm cringing at my severe lack of knowledge too!
I've been a console gamer for probably about 10-13 years (I'm 20), so I kind of (kind of!) know what's going on with that but with PC Gaming I haven't got a clue, everyone says PC Gaming is the way forward so I want to join in and I'm fairly certain my current desktop computer is definitely not up for GTA V/LSPDFR. With LSPDFR, I've been hooked on it for months by watching content creators on YouTube, the likes of Bay Area Buggs, Jeff Favignano, Runt Gaming and many more, and have been toying with the idea of actually playing it myself for a while because the game itself and the whole community on here looks incredible. Anyway, I'll get on with it.
Q1. What would you recommend for GTA V and LSPDFR. A laptop or a desktop PC?
I've had a look around and the general consensus seems to be a desktop but I would like to clarify if that is indeed ideal. I don't necessarily want the five star experience like the most fps or whatever, just something that can run the game smoothly with/without extra mods without any lag (etc.) problems.
My current desktop:
I have no idea how to describe my current desktop and what information to share but I'll try. I'm currently using an AOC monitor with a Zoostorm tower(?). As for specs, I think: CPU: Intel(r) Celeron(r) CPU E3400 @ 2.60GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.6GHz | Memory: 2048MB RAM | DirectX Version: DirectX 12 | Operating system: Windows 10 Home 64-bit. I'm probably missing a whole host of information but not sure what stuff I need to tell and what I don't/shouldn't. If there's anything I'm missing, please ask and I'll attempt to find out. Maybe driver information, or graphics card information? I have no idea.
I assume I am correct in thinking this wouldn't run GTA V and LSPDFR at all. E.g. My current computer just about runs Football Manager 2016 (an association football video game) and that, I'm pretty sure, is nothing compared to the aforementioned GTA and LSPDFR.
Also, if this helps, in the past year or so I've attempted to use screen recording software record footage and upload to YouTube but whenever I tried hitting record it would tell me my drivers (or graphics, can't remember) were out of date. I see people direct me to a Microsoft website to update them but it seems to have done nothing (almost definitely a fault on my end). To me, it seems this current computer is probably way out of date by now and I may as well invest in a more up-to-date desktop/laptop for gaming with GTA/LSPDFR.
So, is my current computer good enough for GTA V and LSPDFR?
I highly doubt it, but in the case that my current computer is suitable to play GTA V and LSPDFR at a good level, is there anything else I need to know? Can I just buy the game, download LSPDFR and get cracking or not?
-OR-
So, my current computer isn't good enough?
If that's the case, what would you recommend I buy to suit gaming in general, but mainly GTA V and LSPDFR? Is there a certain computer/laptop that is perfect for it? As for my budget, I don't really have one (does that make me sounds like a douche? I mean, as in I've been saving for a while and think I have about what's right for a new computer/laptop). As I said, I don't feel the need to get the highest end computer/laptop, but something that runs games in a normal, smooth fashion. Lastly, I've seen people recommend online that you should build your own computer as it cheaper. That probably makes sense, but honestly I don't trust myself with that; I just know I'd make an amateur error somewhere down the line.
So, I guess that's it? Again, sorry if what I'm asking is silly but I have no idea about it and, based on what I've heard, this is one of the best places to come for advice. If I've missed something, please ask me and I will get the information if needed. If you've read this far, thanks so much and I hope you can help me.
Thanks for reading, have a nice day.
Ryan.
