Thanks for your reply. I had followed those steps to the best of my ability. I found I solved the problem by not pressing Alt-P until after after visiting Roman's house in the first mission. The game now seems to run fine. I hope this helps anyone else who might come across the same problem. I can run the game fine despite failing the log check. Thanks again.

Hi all, I am hoping somebody may be able to assist me as I have hit a wall trying to get this to work I saw a video of LCPDFR online and really wanted to try the game. I purchased GTA4 from Steam and downloaded LCPDFR. I could get GTA to load but Alt-P did nothing but blur the graphics. I could drive round and the game seemed quite stable even though I'm on a fairly average laptop. My only issue was when in Roman's house on the first mission I couldn't open any doors. At first I had what appears to be a common 'failed to resolve d3dx9_43.dll' error. Eventually after reading many forum posts I got this to go green though there is still a red bar at the bottom for 'log check failed' That said, I now find Alt-P works and tells me to drive to the nearest Police station. When I get there though I exit the vehicle. I can walk into the station so I position under the arrow. It very briefly shows me inside the Police station and then says "You have abandoned Roman" and boots me back to the start of the game. I can drive around for ages in Roman's taxi without the game crashing so I think it's stable. Sometimes when I go to the Police station it allows me to press E and I find myself in a 'disembodied' Police station with stuff at all angles and I can't move. I have to quit the game. It still runs through instructions telling me I can book on, select a partner and take rest but it doesn't actually let me. I'm not a computer expert so the diagnostic log means little to me. I will post it below however. I have tried pretty much everything I've been able to find on the forum so far. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
