  1. Yup I'm feeling it. Officially a fantastic release. The hype train has arrived in the station, thank you guys for the hard work despite the delays to give us some cool new content! I know I appreciate it! :)
  2. What's that noise? It's the hype train! Awesome update, thank you Devs for working so hard and tirelessly to bring us all these new and sparkly things! Keep up the good work! :)
  3. Keep up the good work dev team! Always a good feeling to know as a consumer that the dev is making the best use of downtime, unfortunate downtime, but downtime nonetheless. Just remember guys that the people who created the game, vs the people who manage the game post creation are two different groups of people. As a dev its really upsetting to hear negative things that you have no control over so it's important that you target the correct people with criticism. Harassing a designer for something that corporate decides won't get you far. Just my two cents. Thanks guys for the update and transparency with LSPDFR 0.2!
  4. I don't disagree with you, however one of the first classes I took in college for being a Dev was the history of games development. Game development in the 90s was very different than it is now, and those people who were developing then are the people who are in charge of making the kinds of decisions now that are a reflection of the overall game. Back in those days, modding was what drove a game to keep on keeping on, the disconnect comes in from the style of game you see now which is more multiplayer focused. This is why the DLC packs you see major Studios releasing tend to be more multiplayer focused because the paradigm has shifted in their eyes from being Mod/Singleplayer focused to multiplayer focused. If you look at the market trends over the past couple years, its easy to see why people could make this assumption (Call of Duty, Battlefield, etc etc). The frustrating part is that people tend to ignore the outlying A++ 100% awesome games such as the Witcher, or Skyrim because they cant think of a way to support continuous profit for these games in a way that's been done before. Market people aren't supposed to be coming up with these ideas though, that's a Designers job, and its why I strongly advocate for more mixture of employees between studio departments.
  5. Hey everyone, I'm a long time lurker to the site and a big fan of the mod, I also happen to be in the career of being a Game Dev. I don't work for Rockstar so please don't bring the hate train down on me. I was just hoping to address a couple of potential reasons for why you're seeing Rockstar behaving the way it is. The most important thing to recognize is that not everyone in a game studio knows what everyone else is doing. If I were working on GTA V during its development and lets say I was working on designing a system for a sweet dance off someplace, I wouldn't be privy to the information that the marketing or legal department has. Along these lines, it is important to recognize that the Devs don't necessarily have the final word. For instance, I might go to my Team leader and show him this cool dance system and we go ahead and implement it, but come review time, someone from legal says "Hey that dance move is trademarked toss it" 9/10 times my higher ups will side with legal. Applying this information to GTA I agree with the masses that its super disconcerting when Rockstar makes the announcement "Hey we're cool with modding" and then goes out of their way to make it difficult for modders. If I were to guess what was happening internally, I'd say that someone from Public Relations took initiative and made a post for pro-modding, when in reality, marketing is telling corporate "Hey you guys will make more money in the long run if you keep the focus on online". This relates to mods in the sense that, single-player mods take away from the glamour of the GTA:O portion of the game, Think of GTA V as just the side game to the online portion of GTA because that's where Rockstars lining their pockets. So when marketing tells you, there's more money to be had by doing X instead of Y company will generally follow up with X. The unfortunate reality is that no matter how popular a company gets, they wont be able to keep making games without cash. Hopefully this clarified some of the reasons why you've been seeing this from Rockstar. Any questions feel free to ask and if I see it Ill try to respond.
