  1. The more important question here is why would you want to use anything other than the desert eagle? Badass gun :p On a serious note, sounds like you possibly installed a weapon mod and its not working properly. Iv never experienced this, so Im not sure what could cause it other than another mod not wanting to cooperate. Perhaps try re-installing LCPDFR? (what I did was just run the installer again, it should over-write the original and possibly corrupted files).
  2. Actually no Im not running ENB. I looked at the mods like that, and I kept reading about it "possibly" overheating my GPU. Im not sure how it could do that, but the idea of some program somehow overheating my GPU does not interest me. Seeing as a GPU can only have up to 100% load, a mod should not get the GPU any hotter than normal.
  3. I think you may have a problem. I ran the benchmark with max settings at 1280x1024 and got an average of 28FPS with my 5 year old G80 8800GTS 320MB. Granted it crashes when I actually try to play the game maxxed, but it still ran the benchmark fine. If I actually had 1.2GB of vram on my card, Im sure I could play it just fine at max settings.
  4. Not true. It might help on some computers, but I think it still has more to due with vram. Iv noticed that the further away you are from using all your available vram, the smoother the game runs and the less buggy it is. So like me for example, in GTA it says 303MB (somtimes 280MB) available, so I set it so the game only uses about 250MB and for the most part it will keep it from doing the ever famous no textures problem. I actually have not had GTA crash in a while and Im using a full car pack that even has more cars than the game came with. I get an average of 70FPS using low-medium settings. Medium textures, 1280x1024 with mostly everything else low and a 20 draw distance with 100 cars and 100 detail distance.
  5. If you dont know how to build a computer (really isnt that hard) and dont wanna get into it, then yes that computer will do just fine. Dont expect to max out GTA with it though. And the 1155 socket (which is that one) appears to still be performing very well for gaming so youd even probably be able to upgrade that CPU to an even faster i5. Although it being an OEM windows install, it might not like that.
  6. Most likely not. First off, GTA4 does not like ATi video cards. Not alot of games do. In my experience, ATi (or AMD) has been lacking in good drivers for the past few years. Secondly, the GPU is not really that important in GTA4, its all about the video memory. Which GTA will eat alive if you dont have enough of it. 1GB will be enough for medium settings to run smoothly, but youll have a hard time running high textures. Thirdly, as everyone else suggested. Build your own computer. I built my computer for $950 and it consist of: Intel i7-970 P6X58-E Pro 12GB DDR3 Triple Channel (XMP 1600mhz, 20GB/s) G80 8800GTS 320MB (have had since 2007) 60GB OCz SSD 2x 320GB WD HDDs (already had) 650W Antec Power Supply (had for yearsss) LG DVD burner (had for a long time, forget the model name) And for $950 my PC probably wont play GTA4 better than that one, but it will do alot more things better. Another $200 would get you a graphics card that will max out almost any game. $850 for a "future proof" PC as someone had said, is a bit far off if you include SSDs and HDDs and a PSU. (which sounds like you wont already have so youll need to buy). Id suggest getting a video card that has at least 2GB of RAM. Dont do crossfire or SLi, they arnt really worth it. It would be almost a waste of money to buy that PC, since AMD has been going down the drain that socket will be useless in a year or 2 and that processor isnt that good to begin with. Youd be better off with that Core i5 you listed before the AMD. That platform will be more powerful and last you alot longer. After reading your last thread, you might as well save up alot more money and not worry about it right now. $300 wont get you anything.
  7. Its just the game. It has to do with the game not being optimized very good at all. I have 12GB of RAM and it still happens to me from time to time. Usually if you just sit in one spot for a while everything will resume as normal. Or reboot the game. I believe its a sort of memory leak. I also have an i7 970 (6 cores, 12 threads) so Im sure that CPU and RAM have nothing to do with it. VRAM maybe, I only have 320MB. But Im sure its just a problem with the game, not hardware related. (Game on max settings at 1280x1024 uses 18% CPU, 36% RAM, and 390% VRAM on my system. Shows that VRAM is most important to this engine. At that, for max settings to be smooth you would need about 1.2GB of video ram.)
  8. Iv been playing GTA4 since the day it was released. And until GTA5 starts seeing some mods, Ill probably still play it after GTA5 is released. Id play both. Hell, I even still play SA from time to time. Some games just never die. Like the original Duke Nukem for instance. As for the GPU, I would go with an nvidia one. ATi seems to have alot of driver issues in a bunch of games. If you search around, youll see it having alot of problems with GTA4 as well. Iv had very little problems with my G80 8800. Aside from the occasional slow loading of textures (the well known missing textures!) when driving really fast through the city (due to only having 320MB of VRAM), even at that it keeps above 70FPS on medium settings. And for storage, I would suggest getting at LEAST a 60GB SSD for the operating system (dont put any games on it if you go with 60GB, Windows 7 will take up more than half of it) but they are indeed instant loaders when it comes to booting up and web browsing.
  9. I just wanted to say to the developers of this mod, great work! Iv been a fan of this mod since I found it a while back. And now with my new computer, I wanted to report NO problems at all! Intel i7 970 ASUS P6X58-E Pro 12GB Corsair Vengeance Triple Channel 8800GTS 320MB (G80 core) OCz 60GB SSD (SATA 2) 2x320GB WD 3200KS HDDs Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit I am running the .95 version of LCPDFR, and ELS V6.6 with a LAPD Crown Vic I found. Also only running version 1.0.4.0 of the game, as I did not need the other patches and was afraid of compatibility problems with LCPDFR (since when I used it before, the game was only patchable to 1.0.3.0). I was able to override the memory restrictions and max out the game at 1280x1024 @70hz and benchmarked it at 28.18FPS. However with actual gameplay it would just freeze up so Im running everything but the textures at max (textures at medium). And with that, I got 120FPS on the benchmark. So far, runs as smooth as the console version of the game.
  10. I too wanna say how awsome this mod is. I actually havent played with it yet, just watched alot of youtube videos. Its exactly what I did in GTA 4 anyway, after beating the game there wasnt anything else to do but play cop :p. I cant really play the mod to its fullest though, as my computer as of right now is: Windows 7 Ultimate Pentium 4 2.4ghz Radeon X1650Pro 512MB AGP 1GB dual channel RAM. ASUS P4P800 Some pretty old school stuff until my gaming rig gets fixed hopefully soon. But it still runs GTA 4.
