    I've been awaiting a solution to this issue. I've read the sticky, none of the simple solutions have solved my issue. and I've even watched the video that Harper put together. I don't know if it's neccesary to create another thread about the same issue when it can be discussed here, but I've pretty much got the same identical problem as the OP. I'm trying 0.91, my game is patched to 1.0.7.0, auto installer went fine, but the game just does not start at all. EDIT: I've found the solution! If you're using .91, select xlive ASI Loader rather than dsound. Then when you launch, you should be ready to pull bitches over.
