    I am also having a similar problem, only at times I don't get an error message, it just shuts down to the desktop.

    Mine does the same thing, I recently installed a few mods from a trusted source and when I play the game it gets maybe 15 minutes in or so and the just shuts off...doesn't say anything after, it's like I wasn't playing the game at all. And I can't find the error log in the GTA IV folder.
