  1. Hi guys, there's no one around actually who I could chat about software development. So I thought maybe this could be the place for it. Maybe some of you know my mods (Havoc!, PTS, UndertakerService, EmergencyService). My current goal is to separate the autodrive functionality from the Havoc! mod into it's own mod as it has grown way beyond what's been initially planned and it's still growing. That's no big deal thanks to a good architecture but heck I don't feel like programming at the moment and what bugs me most is not even the code restructurization but the guide - no it'll be two guides then. How do you motivate yourself when you feel like that? Also I have another question to the LCPDFR developer team: What revision control system do you use? I like git the most and there's a free hoster called "BitBucket" where I have all my repositories.
  2. Whoa I'd never downgrade my computer but okay, each to their own.
  3. Maybe yes but the memory management of GTA IV is known for being insufficient and this seems to be another memory issue. I'm no C++ developer so I don't know if it's even possible to make any improvements on that. BTW I removed the TrafficFlow mod some hours ago and that seems to gain stability. I hadn't any crashes since then but I quit anyway because I faced the usual glitches which pile up over time. At first it's always the policing mod that crashes. Then some minutes later one after the other of the mods crashes as well.
  4. Yep the crash happened to me again as well. I guess it's got something to do with where you are in LC. For instance the downtown area (which resembles the Times square in NYC) has more vehicles moving and parking at a time than other areas (i.e. the rim of Northwood). My crash happened in downtown yesterday. Anyway, Downtown with a traffic density set to 25% looks like a ghost town already. Should we turn it down even further?
  5. Guess what guys. The problem is gone for me and the solution is dead easy. I have reduced the traffic density from 50 to 25 and I don't have crashes anymore because of this.
  6. Yes of course you guys are right about fixing the bigger problems first. I'm a developer myself and I would also have this way down on my backlog. it was just one of that occasions and it got me pretty annoyed at this time and I thought I let you know how I think about this feature. I was just venting. I was in the middle of a high speed chase. Suddenly the camera went away, I crashed and the criminal escaped.
  7. Whenever there's something happening around me the camera turns towards this and I have an accident because I can't see the eff where I'm driving! Could you please turn this automatic event camera off or make it optional?
  8. Oops double post due to server hickups. Sorry.
  9. @Kadu: I don't know if any part of the TLAD code is also used by TBOGT but anyway I didn't face any bugs during the tests.
  10. Maybe but nonetheless it can be done outside of TLAD.
  11. I did a test in TBOGT. - spawn one or more bodyguards with the simple trainer - also in the simple trainer we can tell the bodyguards to follow in a vehicle. Sorry I can't remember how that command's name is exactly. - Enter any vehicle and drive. I tested with an airtug so one bodyguard placed himself besides me but all others distributed on the other vehicles I spawned before. Voila, they follow you in/on vehicles wherever you go. That's been a hilarious ride. You should try that. I made something similar in my Undertaker mod. In case of a prank call he can chase you all around town. However it's a very simple variation. I just read the player's current position with every tick event and call the DriveTo Method. Once you stop moving and he has reached a certain distance to your position (iirc it's <10), he stops, complains about the prank call and drives away.
  12. and in case the driver you tried to arrest had a "nasty accident" you can call the >coroner (also from Abraxas) and if you like to have it convenient you can call them with a kind of smartphone device which is provided by the >police helper mod.
  13. Alas the script engine of the game doesn't allow threading in any way. I wish it would. How about using the tick event with an interval set to 2000 and a validation of the return value? EDIT: Just forget it. I'm no member of the LCPDFR dev team and I guess you don't care for my opinion anyway.
  14. No LMS is the nick name of the chief developer. Look at his post above.
  15. Well yeah I get what you mean but how's it in reality? I mean how's it handled if a suspect is so severely injured that he needs to be taken to the ER? Wouldn't he be transported by the ambulance and a cop is accompanying him? That would be another cool new feature. You (the cop) would be driven in the back part of an ambulance to the next hospital, together with the injured suspect(s). But what when we reach the hospital? Hmm... Sorry if this is OT. I'm just dreaming... Ugh just scrap that.
  16. Yay! I picture this script to act automatic. Hop on a police bike and the partner does the same with his bike. If there is no police bike in the surrounding then just spawn one out of nowhere. I wouldn't care for such a detail like having it delivered or something like that. Then he follows you wherever you drive and he adapts to your actual speed.
  17. Heck I wish GTA V would be available for PC at last. I love to cruise around and explore but I know each and every corner of Liberty City by now. When I think of the huge map that GTA V has to offer... oh my. OMG and just imagine we had all those great mods like LCPDFR and the like in GTA V!
  18. @drdetroit: What part of "...on two bikes" and "...spawned a second police bike" did you not understand? Also there is even a picture which shows TWO bikes! EDIT: Sorry this was meant to be funny. I guess I'm watching too many sitcoms lately.
  19. I just got an idea while playing. Today I'm on patrol with a police bike. After dropping some evidence at the police station I thought, hey wouldn't it be cool if my partner and I can go on patrol on bike? Maybe we can! So I got me a partner, went outside and spawned a second police bike. Alas my partner don't use it.
  20. Hello LMS, hmm... I have nothing installed which modifies ped data in any way. Well yeah the policing script causes some random action on peds but nothing gender specific on vehicle drivers. Making a mad driver is nothing special. I do it also with my Havoc! mod and I cannot imagine that _ped.Task.CruiseWithVehicle([put insane parameters here]) causes such issues. But you never know. If someone likes to do a code review of my mods then just go to https://bitbucket.org/rainerhilmer So I guess there's no way to prevent that issue from crashing the game? What happens if you don't query the gender? Why is that important anyways? I didn't yet recognize any difference in the behavior of the action.
  21. Hello RedHorizon, I tried to resolve this issue by removing ALL mods (I posted that somewhere on page 1) but it didn't help. Anyway, as I said I can bypass aim+E by using aim+Alt+F from the policing script and the rest works like a charm for me now. So as far as I'm concerned I haven't anything to complain about right now. And because of this I want to say a BIG THANK YOU to the developer team for the immediate fix. I know I can be a pita but you guys should also know that I can be very grateful. OTOH I leave this thread in the unanswered state because the issue still exists.
